Chapter 45- Drakan politics

Draama saw that her father and Gulliver also noticed them as well.

“I’m sorry Prince Valerian, but I can no longer talk with you anymore. I must see to my new guests.” (Draama)

Valerian raised his glass again.

“I understand completely. May good health and tidings be with you.” (Valerian)

Draama then grabbed her spear as she stood.

“House head Dramix, see to it that the Great Master is cared for.” (Draama)

Dramix sighed.

“It would be rude to let our guests feel left out.” (Dramix)

Draama sighed to herself.

“Very well.” (Draama)

She then walked to where the guards were and set her spear on the ground gently. The small group of farmers then walked away as a group of shaman entered.

“What’s the meaning of this? Why is a great one with these outsiders?” (Large Shaman)

Peter had a thought.

“You have an image now young one. If you bend to them, they will own you. Slowly but surely, your house will not be yours anymore.” (Peter’s Spirit Talking)

The large shaman tried to move past her, but she blocked him with her spear.

“Who gave you the right to interfere with matters of the house of the Timeless Lance?” (Draama)

He then turned towards her and growled in annoyance.

“Don’t interfere woman.” (Large Shaman)

He tried to move past her once again, but she tripped him and then hit him in the back of the head with the end of her spear.

After doing so, she pointed the tip of her spear right at his neck.

“Remember this moment well the next time I have your life at my whim.” (Draama)

She then pulled up her spear and took a guarding stance while he got out of the dirt.

“Now, tell me the reason why you interrupted this meeting between my house and the royalty of the kingdom of Gile.” (Draama)

They all paused, not too sure on what to say. It quickly became apparent to her that many of them were sent here because the others were curious about this meeting as well. It might also be because they’ve never seen outsiders in the heart of Drakan lands before, while some of them haven’t seen another race before.

However, someone stepped forward.

“What is this meeting about, young housemaster of the Timeless Lance? Does it concern the great ones since your great master is here?” (Clever Shaman)

Draama paused at the legitimate question. In truth, she didn’t know the reason for the meeting either. Suddenly, she then heard a voice behind her that startled her.

“May you let me explain young one?” (Gulliver)

Draama moved aside with a pleased expression. As she did so, she noticed that Gulliver had a stride of such confidence and grace that she had never seen before. This person was a leader of tens of thousands of people! Even if his height barely passed her shoulders, he was as tall as a mountain to her at that moment. Gulliver and the shaman looked eye to eye before he grunted unamusedly.

“Weakliuhh.” (Clever Shaman)

With one punch to the gut as he spoke, Gulliver brought the shaman to their knees.

“I agree. You’re a weakling. I held back because I thought you would be at least half as strong as my old friend Dramix.” (Gulliver)

The shaman fell over while unconscious, then Gulliver popped his knuckles and his neck, signaling that he was ready for a fight.

“Anyone else wants to know about matters that aren’t their own?” (Gulliver)

Surprisingly, a smaller male that was barely as tall as Gulliver stepped forward from amongst the crowd.

“I’m here for a different matter, but the reason you’re here may be related to mine.” (Meek Shaman)

Gulliver became curious.

“I see. Dramix, this one is all yours.” (Gulliver)

Gulliver then put a hand on him as he walked forward. While another person was out cold near his feet, the shock of being allowed to pass by froze him at that moment. Draama then stepped in front of him and tapped his foot with her spear.

“We won’t bite you, fellow housemaster.” (Draama)

He then regained his composure and stepped forward as Draama moved aside.

“I, well yes, I suppose not.” (Meek Shaman)

She then followed him at his side before he walked over to the legend himself.

“The Great Dramix and the hero of the world, I am Housemaster Hal of the house of the Broken Arrow. I received word that you wish to see me. Something about my lands on the border?” (Hal)

Dramix laughed lightly.

“Ah, yes. I and my friend Gulliver have been speaking for a great number of years about creating a point of trade between our two peoples. Right now, the caravans that my house runs are small in size and number. They always make money, but not the maximum that they could. If we had a place that we could focus all our products on, then we could trade and make much more money. Since the kingdom of Gile is our neighbor, it’s plain that they would benefit the most from this as well.” (Dramix)

Hal rubbed his chin in thought. He did want to make a lot of money since he was poor.

“What are you proposing great one? I understand what you want and why you want it, but not what you’re giving me in return.” (Hal)

Dramix sighed slightly.

“I can’t exactly say because I’m no longer the head of my house since I passed it down to my daughter. However, Gulliver’s stake in this is a settlement that both of our kind can share. Since we’re speaking about your lands in their kingdom, true ownership can be shared without conflicts arising.” (Dramix)

Hal thought about it for a moment, and it made sense to him. The humans were willing to share the land instead of having blood spilled over it. Hal then turned towards Draama.

“I will ask again you, housemaster to housemaster. What are you offering me?” (Hal)

Draama hesitated because she wasn’t too sure about the offer since it was news to her as well.

“A partnership. We’ll give you an advance payment to build on the land and craft it to our wants and needs. After that, you will earn a piece of the profits, and you will also have a say in any matter my house is involved in. For example, if you wish to enforce a rule in the land, my house and the humans have to agree first.” (Draama)

Hal scratched his chin in thought. He could quickly see the benefits that he’ll receive.

“Further talks will be needed, but I can agree to these terms for now. If you wish to give my house a portion of the advance payment, you can send word so construction and planning can begin.” (Hal)

Draama then took a look around before finding someone speaking to one of the human guards.

“Come here.” (Draama)

After taking a moment to figure out who she meant, she walked over.

“How may I be of service housemaster?” (farmer)

Draama looked at Dramix before responding.

“The house head will give you the details.” (Draama)

She then walked over to Dramix’s side as Draama took Hal’s shoulder and pushed him to the table beside Kel, who decided to take a nap.

“Come eat and drink your fill. This is the table for old friends and news ones.” (Draama)

Prince Valerian looked at the new member that arrived at the table, but he was much less impressed with him than Dramix or Draama. He was as slim as Draama, and his garments were very worn out and dirty. Even his spirit amulet was really small compared to hers and didn’t even have a spirit hue. Prince Valerian then moved over to the other side of the table and extended his arm in a greeting.

“Prince Valerian.” (Valerian)

Hal grabbed it before responding.

“Hal of the house of the Broken Arrow.” (Hal)
