Chapter 48- like father like daughter

Peter smiled.

“Yes, that’s because I’m here with you. That’s not what I was talking about though. Look outside the rim.” (Peter’s Spirit Talking)

She then turned it on its side and noticed that the gold casing was changed to silver. Not only that, but another ring appeared around it.

“Another ability spot?” (Draama’s Spirit Talking)

Peter smirked a little.

“In a way. It gives me a form of control over the future. Only minor influences, but the ones I think are important. This something I can never replace because it’s set forever. Now, you may also notice that my outer spots for skills aren’t active either. I’m going to use one of them and never change it again, but for the other one, I will change it as I see fit. I will rework my skills to fit this. I’m also going to house myself in one of the bigger spots now that I have a body. That leaves the small spot in the middle, the soul stone heart as it were. I’m giving you the option to fill yourself.” (Peter’s Spirit Talking)

Draama became confused.

“Fill it myself? How so?” (Draama’s Spirit Talking)

Peter then realized she had never been to the enlightenment shop, so he transferred them there in a single moment. Peter then gestured toward the gate with the sign that had a coin on a dagger. Draama walked forward and was met by a foggy figure behind a merchant counter.

“Hello, new body and returning spirit. Do you need an explanation of the shop?” (Foggy Figure)

Peter raised his hand.

“No need, I’ll explain it to her.” (Peter’s Spirit Talking)

The foggy figure backed away before looking at Peter and asking him a question,

“Very well, spirit. Would you like an explanation about inherited skills?” (Foggy Figure)

Peter paused at the new information.

“Not right now. Let me finish this first.” (Peter’s Spirit Talking)

The fog remained still while Peter continued.

“In short, this is where you and I can gain new abilities and skills. How we earn them is the moral balance we live by.” (Peter’s Spirit Talking)

Peter then gestured to an hourglass on the counter.

“This is how you measure the balance. Each ability and skill takes both good and evil in a specific balance for what the skill is based on. For example, a dark skill like necromancy requires much more dark than light, while a holy heal skill requires much more light than darkness.” (Peter’s Spirit Talking)

Draama looked at the hourglasses and noticed that it had much more light than dark in it.

“Is this my moral standing?” (Draama’s Spirit Talking)

Peter nodded.

“In a sense.” (Peter’s Spirit Talking)

He then pointed at the empty stands.

“This is where you reserve skills you want but can’t afford.” (Peter’s Spirit Talking)

Draama moved over to the counter and looked around before one item immediately caught her eye.

“Is that…. fire-breathing?” (Draama’s Spirit Talking)

Peter smirked.

“Yes, it is.” (Foggy Figure)

Draama almost jumped at the fog’s response to her question.

“Do I have enough to buy it?” (Dramma’s Spirit Talk)

The fog paused and then seemed to look at Peter.

“It appears it’s time for me to explain how to inherit skills. When a shaman passes on their talents to another, such as a child or a grandchild, then they will inherit a lesser form of all abilities that the shaman had. It is also up to the new shaman to make these abilities a match or greater than the former. In your case, you can’t get the fire-breathing ability because you already have it.” (Foggy Figure)

Peter scratched his chin.

“Your father was very proud of the fact that he had the ability, but he actually wasn’t very good at it. At best, he could only light a campfire or a torch. It did allow your father and mother to be able to light the slave pits they were held in for warmth. It’s up to you to unleash this ability.” (Peter’s Spirit Talking)

Draama nodded joyfully at the explanation. She’d have to do some training with her father if she wanted the skill.

“If you don’t see anything in the shop you want, you can always wish for it and come back another time when it’s in stock.” (Peter’s Spirit Talking)

Draama leaned over the counter and noticed a seemingly empty spot.

“What’s in that one?” (Draama’s Spirit Talking)

The fog seemed to grab the empty orb and brought it out.

“A very rare find indeed. This is a second fate skill. It will fit into any skill slot and will remain inactive until it’s used. Once used, it must take time to recover. This is one of the few skills that can be used without a shaman and cannot be controlled by the spirit.” (Foggy Figure)

Peter became interested in it as well.

“What does it do?” (Peter’s Spirit Talking)

The fog turned toward Peter before responding.

“It gives you a second chance at fate as the name implies. I can’t tell you any more than that though.” (Foggy Figure)

Draama became mesmerized by it.

“How much is it?” (Draama’s Spirit Talking)

The fog seemed to offer it to Draama.

“It’s free, but it has a steep cost. Once you purchase it, it binds to an empty spot on your spirit amulet and can’t be easily removed.” (Foggy Figure)

Draama then became cautious of the orb.

“I won’t question your decision, but you have to make your own. I was planning on never removing it from the center anyways.” (Foggy Figure)

The fog almost seemed surprised as Draama grabbed the orb in her hands and it vanished in a small burst of light. Peter then looked at the amulet around Draama’s neck and situated it how he wanted to. He then smiled as they left the shop.

“This was an interesting visit for your first time in an enlightened state.” (Foggy Figure)

Draama nodded before responding.

“I agree. We’ll return at a later date when we have the time.” (Draama’s Spirit Talking)

Peter sighed.

“Very well, let’s return.” (Peter’s Spirit Talking)

Draama nodded again; then she looked up after noticing the other two gates.

“Where do those lead?” (Draama’s Spirit Talking)

Peter turned around to look at them before responding.

“One of them tells us the status of the skills I possess, while the other one is your status.” (Peter’s Spirit Talking)

Draama considered stepping forward for a moment, but she shook her head and ended her meditation instead.
