The good timing he had mentioned was a rainstorm! After a rainstorm comes, they’ll start their operation under cover of rain.
Ye Jian nodded her head, “I have no problems. I’ll follow all orders from the troops.”
The several sentries were all posted in the upper region. Brother Hong and the others had their guard up against the Chinese Border Police.
Very quickly, the news of a sniper taking over the southern vantage point had been told to the multiple squads still in the mountains. Now that the most important thing was set in stone, they can only wait for the code’s arrival to start the operation.
Basing off their enemy’s strength, they needed to allocate three snipers. If they even had machine gun stations… Ye Jian, who was hurrying to her position on the southern vantage point, pressed her lips tightly together; casualties would be inevitable.
After reaching the southern side, Ye Jian finally understood why Xia Jinyuan said: from North to South, if you don’t take a closer look at the village inside the mountains, you won’t even know if anyone was living there.
After finding several observation spots through the dense tree leaves, Ye Jian finally saw the village that was seated under the corner of the mountain.
Laos’ typical farmhouses had triangular roofs, with logs or thick cross-woven bamboos as walls. There were at least five houses from where she was looking at!
But since Laos’ police were nearby, at least they don’t have to worry about the lower region.
Time slipped away with each tick-tock. After finding the optimal sniping position, Ye Jian had already been hiding there for two hours. The Type 88 Sniper Rifle had an effective shooting range of 800 meters. At 1000 meters, it was still capable of fully penetrating through three layers of A3 steel plates, and with Ye Jian’s sniping skills, she could absolutely choose between 800 meters and 1000 meters.
However, she didn’t. Instead, she chose a spot around the 500-meter range because if the shootout became more intense, she’d at least be able to reduce time spent sprinting for 300 to 500 meters and reinforce the border police sooner.
The high precision Type 88 Sniper Rifle in Ye Jian’s hands was a weapon to protect her comrades. The time for the operation was getting closer; Ye Jian’s eyes came closer to the scope, quietly waiting for the time to arrive.
It was tranquil inside the rainforest, no birds were flying, neither were there any beasts running away. Ye Jian saw the three sentries patrolling their location with perfect camouflage, and they would occasionally look towards the mountains with their binoculars.
And the location they were watching was the border of China!
The rain started pitter-patting against the ground. After half an hour, a downpour started. Amongst the dense sound of rain, Ye Jian slowly locked onto the crosshairs of her scope, and under the beating of rain hitting the leaves, Ye Jian fired her first shot!
“Bang!”
The gunshot seemed much quieter after being drowned out by the water. After firing the first shot, she pulled the bolt handle, and the empty round was ejected.
Following that, the second shot was fired, and the third shot perfectly eliminated the enemies. Even if they reacted quickly, the sentries were still one step slower than Ye Jian’s bullet, and their heads were blown off by each of her shots.
The rain was too heavy, completely drowning out the sounds of a sniper rifle being fired. When Ye Jian fired her fourth shot at a sharp wood carving on top of the sentry post, the Chinese Border Police lurking near the southern sentry post rushed into the rain’s cover.
“Southern post had been eliminated; the southern post had been eliminated.” The signaller immediately reported their current situation, to ease the other squads at the three locations to make a coordinated attack.
When Captain Liu and the other squads received the news, all of them revealed looks of surprise. So quickly! So quickly!!
“Squad B, sitrep, Squad C sitrep! Squad A had eliminated the post; Squad A had eliminated the post.”
“Two down, two down.”
Squads B and C replied very quickly, and the two other posts have also been taken out. The Laos Police received intel from the Chinese side and similarly charged into the village.
Ye Jian did not leave immediately. Instead, she moved closer to the surroundings of the village. Captain Xia had once said actual combat was hard to come by, and given the opportunity, she needed to grasp it tightly.
