Su Mian left the post office restlessly. Worried that Wei Zhen Hui would be busy after the war and forget to write to her, she took the initiative to write to him and had also written another letter to Su Jin Long.
Wei Zhen Hui was in the provincial military area and it only took two days for the letter to reach him from town. It would take three days to reach Su Mian’s house. The letter had to be sent to town first before being sent to the village. The village did not send someone to fetch the mail every day, so it would take three to four days to arrive.
Su Mian had written three pages to Wei Zhen Hui. She had not said much about anything else, only telling him what had happened since school started, both small and large matters. When she had finished, she was afraid he would find her too verbose so she wrote a whole new one instead. This time, she had only written one page and had just asked things like if he had been injured, or if he missed her.
After writing this letter, Su Mian felt her entire face was red. Fortunately, Wei Min who was sitting at the same table was doing her homework very seriously in the afternoon so did not notice anything strange.
Su Mian also finished writing a letter home and had especially asked her parents to take extra care of Su Jin Long.
The post office was right at the entrance to the school and after eating dinner, Su Mian went to send the letters.
On the way back, Wei Min kept asking incessantly, “Did you write to my brother?”
“No.” Su Mian gritted her teeth and refused to admit it.
“Then why did you send it so sneakily and didn’t let me see?”
“I was afraid you would tear the letter.” Su Mian made a face and ran away after speaking. Sure enough, Wei Min followed after her, wanting to hit her.
For several consecutive days after, Su Mian went to the mail room to ask and the uncle there could already recognise her. He looked at her over his reading glasses, “Student Su Mian has come again. There is no letter for you today!”
Feeling embarrassed, Su Mian thanked him and ran out.
It was Friday and Su Mian received a call from Dean Li who asked her to go to the hospital in town where the algebra teacher was doing a full body physical examination.
Su Mian was just thinking about sending them medical equipment.
There were B-mode ultrasound X-rays in this era but the results were definitely incomparable to the 21st century. The equipment Su Mian brought could accurately measure the size of the tumour to the centimetre.
When Dean Li saw the advanced medical equipment, he was extremely happy and immediately asked Su Mian to teach the medical staff how to use it. He had arranged for the algebra teacher to have a physical examination in the afternoon.
Dean Li was straightforward, “Su Mian, I know that you have good medical skills. I heard that you had performed a minimally invasive surgery on your youngest aunt’s uterine fibroids. Our hospital still knows nothing about this field of technology. If you can help with Teacher Wang’s liver cancer, I believe the chance of curing will be increased by a lot.”
Younger generations were truly terrifying. Dean Li had long heard of Su Mian’s deeds, but he had not expected that she was not even 19 years old yet. At such a young age, her medical skills were already better than his.
Su Mian understood that he wanted her to lead the surgery for the algebra teacher. Even if Dean Li had not said anything, Su Mian had planned to take the lead. It was just that she was lacking an assistant. Moreover, she was waiting for the teacher’s examination results to come out before she could decide on a specific treatment.
Su Mian suddenly recalled that although Dean Li was in the town hospital, in her previous life, Dean Li had gone abroad on behalf of the provincial doctors later on and his medical skills were not bad at all. Su Mian’s eyes lit up, “Dean Li, would you feel wronged if you were my assistant?” Su Mian was indeed afraid that he would not agree. After all, clinical experience was more important than medical skills.
Dean Li laughed when he heard this, “That is exactly what I meant. I will recommend myself, but I am just afraid that I would not meet your standards.”
The two of them discussed preparations for the surgery.
In the afternoon, all the data on the algebra teacher’s physical functions came out. Su Mian and the others had been too optimistic. The algebra teacher would not have any problem with the surgery, however, his body would need to recuperate and they would need to wait a month before doing the surgery.
