Nick did not need to think twice about which project he was going to choose. Defense against sneak or direct attacks was on his mind even when he had just fought the undead archer in the forest and had lost his arm. This was a lesson he had from when he attacked Elena, and from what he had personally experienced and suffered.
His choice of the project hence was:
‘Project Passive Elemental Magical Shield Generation & Items or Individual’
‘Description’
‘Creating a magical shield in a material, a car, or any kind of item, or creating a magical shield that will protect the one who created it. The purpose of this project is to create a magical shield that will work well and consume less magical energy as well as integrate elemental powers to created ‘Magical Energy’.’
‘The simple magical energy shield that protects items, and vehicles of Werfur Race is consuming too much ‘Magical Energy’, which means consuming too many Magical Stones and not the best shield. The Werfur Race is looking to improve the power of magical shield and decrease the consumed magical energy as well as adding elemental powers to the new shield created.’
Choosing this project was logical because not only did he himself need it, but under the present circumstances, he could research this better with others involved, not to mention the Werfur Race magic was clearly superior to his at the moment.
Just by looking at Nick’s expression, Rabial knew that he had made his decision. He took a deep breath and started talking.
“I see that you have decided which project you are going to work on. Now let me regenerate your arm back as the part of the deal.”
Hearing Rabial’s words, Nick’s eyes brightened up like flashlights illuminating a dark area. He turned his undivided attention to Rabial.
Rabial in turn did not say anything but slowly got closer to Nick. At this moment, Nick had already forgotten about Rabial being a humanoid bunny and solemnly believed that this Werfur being was better than humans in many ways.
Rabial touched Nick’s shoulder and whispered.
“Secret Spell.”
Rabial ensured to not say the spell’s precise name but just “Secret Spell”. In just three seconds after his words ended, an arm manifested from Nick’s left shoulder. The arm was the same as his right arm. He started controlling his arm and noticed that there was absolutely no difference in form, skill, or strength of his new arm, in comparison to his old arm.
He gulped as he took a deep breath and thought in his mind.
“Status”
He was keen to see the difference in his status, and how his power had improved.
‘Nick’
‘Level 2 – Imper Mage (Mid)’
‘Physical Capability = 2.0’
‘INT’ = 2.5
‘Magical Ability’
‘Life Siphon – 90%’
‘Energy Bolt – Completed’
Nick was satisfied with his current status. He had added ‘Energy Bullet’ to his status in order to improve it further. The listing was completed, as this was a spell that he had personally created.
The ‘Life Siphon’ spell had improved as he used other spells and delved into magic more. His ‘INT’ raised to ‘2.5 Points’, which made him ‘Imper Mage Level 2 – Middle’.
His physical quality too had improved, as he ran constantly and was damaged seriously, including losing his arm among other things. All of this had hardened his mind further and improved his physical capability.
After he finished what he needed to do, he looked at Rabial and started talking.
“I would like to work on project ‘Passive Elemental Magical & Magic Shield Generation’.”
Rabial nodded.
“Follow me, let me show you to your work area. Usually, you will have simple tasks to finish in a day. These tasks are around the project you choose, and they are smaller parts of the bigger project. I have to caution you though to not try and talk to other Werfur Race individuals as they don’t like humans due to past events.”
Nick nodded and indicated that he understood.
He himself, despite being a human, did not like the human race. Considering these people were from a different race, he could only imagine what humans were capable of doing to anger and make enemies of them. Humans did much evil to other humans; why would they restrain against another race. Nick did not want to think about these things any further. He did not want to hate his own race more.
Rabial and Nick entered a hallway. It was simple with no windows or any interesting objects. They walked on a blue carpet for about 15 minutes and Rabial showed a black door to Nick and started talking.
“This is your room. Every day, there will be a task here about your project. As you complete one task, you can ask for more to be given to you. Each task has about a two-week deadline. If you cannot complete it, notify us using this stone and we will give you simpler tasks to complete. If you can still not do it, we will have to change your project.”
Rabial gave a blue stone to Nick when he finished explaining. He opened the black door using a wooden key, which he then handed over to Nick. Nick started inspecting the room once the door was opened.
The room was simple. It seemed like an office with a table and a chair, a bookshelf full of books. Compared to his room, there was even a bathroom and some kind of materials, which could be used for experimenting.
A few seconds later, Rabial turned to Nick again and started talking.
“This is your office. I have already given you the key to this office. You can use the Talk Stone for tasks, and also for food and drinks. If you need anything, you don’t have to worry because everything is free. As you know, we will give you weekly 50 ether stones or 50 magical stones; they are not different anyway.”
“For using the Talk Stone, you only need to speak to it after using magical energy to activate it.”
Once Rabial was finished with this basic orientation, he looked at Nick.
“So, I am sure you are ready for doing some work and paying us back.”
Nick just smiled and did not say anything. But the smile was enough for Rabial to understand what Nick meant.
