Episode 137- Control your PDA (Zene summary episode)

The hallway back was dark as if they were in a dungeon. The beautiful jewels embedded in the curvature wall didn’t help make the walkway brighter. One pair could be spotted amid the darkness, showing their affection for one another. Moniqua’s face was still bright red as she leaned against Levis to walk.

“….” Eugene stared blankly from behind. ‘Please control your PDA…’ She sighed as her three-year-old head shook left and right. Deciding to be the bigger person because she was technically one year older than Moniqua and Levis, she shifted the mood elsewhere.

“Where did Crown Prince Nexiel and Musician Hal go?” She went on her toes to look beyond the group of women but didn’t see the two figures she was looking for. She wanted to convey her gratitude to the two for their support, but she hadn’t seen them in a long time.

“They’ve been brought to safety.” Levis replied. The two left with Duke Marleigh’s subordinate after conversing with him.

He slowed down and rubbed Eugene’s head, who was staring at him cutely. Along with Euria and Moniqua, she was the cutest soul in his eyes, despite being a tsundere like Louis. Nevertheless, is it only him or does Eugene seem cuter after only 4 days of separating? Why did she look softer and more… open?

But really, Eugene wasn’t acting cute or anything. Her eyes were just especially big if you stare down at her from up high okay? It wasn’t her fault for looking cute, okay?

Eugene blinked, “How about Louis and the rest?”

Levis’s eyebrows rose immediately. Since when has Eugene learned to be worried for others? Did coming to Zene really make her more open to people? Is it because she met a lot of different people and saw a lot of things here? Though Levis had many questions he wanted to ask, he held it in and answered her,

“They are outside, safe with Duke Rodriguez.”

Aernest who had been listening in sighed in relief. It’s good that his brothers are safe.

His eyes wandered around the backs of Levis and Moniqua when his eyes widened tremendously! “Father! Mother!” he raised his voice in shock! “How come you’re here?!” He asked with a voice filled with disbelief!! He knew that the people in front of them were his parents but he didn’t think they were actually ‘his’ parents! He was genuinely confused as he stared at the two in shock!

‘… You’re realizing it now?’ Eugene’s upper lips twitched. Her hands were also twitching, and they wanted to smack the living life out of this curly red hair child!

Levis laughed out loud! Moniqua also started chucking, ‘Who do you think you were talking to, to realize that we are here just now?’ the two thought in unison.

Moniqua shook her head a little before replying, “We got Euria’s letter so we came.” she smiled gently before turning to Euria.

“You did a good job Euria.” She rubbed Euria on the head and looked at her with affection. Euria’s lips tugged into a half-smile and she only nodded in response.

‘Hm?’ Both Moniqua and Levis raised their brows and they glanced at each other with an odd look.

At this moment, Aernest’s big eyes began to water. Because he was so happy to see his parents and because he was really relieved, he blurted, “Mother, father! So many things happened here in Zene! I… I really miss home!” he confessed with a pouty look.

Levis and Moniqua immediately stopped walking. The two were focused on Aernest, their faces a mess of emotions, one of which was regret.

Because the children are paladins, they had to be sent to Zene for joint training. This was a long-standing tradition, and it was one of the responsibilities of paladins; new knights to the country. Yes, they wanted to excuse the younger ones from this joint training based on the fact that they had no abilities to handle Zene’s training, but who would have thought that Eugene, Aernest, and Euria were more than capable!

The other regret they had was being stuck in Xenperia and not going to Zene with the children from the beginning. Perhaps nothing like this would have happened if they had come with the kids from the beginning.

“Sorry that we couldn’t be with you.” At last, Moniqua couldn’t take it and apologize. She lowered down to Aernest’s eye level and rubbed him on his head slowly. She regretted it, truly.

When Aernest saw that his mother was blaming herself he immediately shook his head, “No, mother. Please don’t feel sad! You had something important to do and we understand! I overheard you and father discussing how sending us here would be safer than keeping us home.” he said and quickly grabbed Moniqua arms to hug it tightly.

Moniqua’s eyes widened in surprise! She had no idea that Aernest was aware of part of the reason for the children’s trip to Zene when suddenly her eyes flashed in anger. Although it was just for a brief moment, the children saw her shift in emotions and realized something was wrong.

Eugene and Aernest glanced at each other but decided to stay quiet and not ask anything. At this moment, Levis suddenly lowered down and scooped Aernest up.

“F, Father!” Aernest was red as he stuttered. His mini-struggles for his father to let go was only met with Levis’s laugh. He was so embarrassed especially because he could see Eugene and Euria smirking from below.

“….” He rubbed his eyes and looked again. No, only Eugene was openly smirking at him. Euria was only paying attention to her egg harvests.

Levis snuggled Aernest into his arms and asked, “So… what happened while we weren’t here?” he kissed Aernest’s cheeks and warned, “Don’t leave anything out.”

Aernest dutifully accepted the kiss and hugged him back.

(Day 1- Day 4 summary)

Zene was really beautiful. The moment they arrived in Zene many people welcomed them with songs. It was a feeling no one has ever felt before but it was one of peace. But when they arrived at the Royal Palace, everything seemed to go downhill from there.

The King had many husbands and wanted a poem competition. Eugene ended up winning, making the King slightly mad. In the end, his husbands jumped into the lake for punishment. Their accommodation was in the lake and they were given a beautiful pavilion to rest in. But they didn’t sleep overnight because Euria felt unsafe so everyone left for the capital instead.

The following day, they had an official training session with Zene’s knights-in-training. The Zene’s trainees didn’t like them at first but because of Euria’s quick snap, they admitted their wrong and apologized. After that everyone got along really well. They made bows and arrows together. They trained with their self-made bows and arrows together. And they discovered that Euria was a genius at archery.

To pass an assessment, the children who were good at archery switched their good bows with bows that were badly made. Eugene was one of the people who had their bow changed. Because of how terrible her bow was, Eugene became a bit of a savage and used her feet as a bow stabilizer to shoot. It was really cool and inspiring which made everyone want to work harder. But at the end, her bow snapped and she fell pathetically so no one really looked up to her anymore.

That day, they learned about Commander Kal and Lady Lea’s magical love story. Ramon was jealous of how close Argen and Euria were but later got embarrassed because Argen, the pretty twin, likes boys and not girls. He truly blushed like crazy back then.

Later they had lessons on how to swim. They swam at a lake that was connected to the Royal Palace which was meant to give good luck to people who trained there. Aedelak, Aeselak, and Euria choose not to swim. Eugene showcased her geniuses again and was able to swim the moment she made contact with water. When Eugene began swimming underwater, Louis panicked and picked her up by her feet. However, when he discovered that it was a false alarm he let go of a dangling Eugene and released her into the water.

Everyone passed the swimming assessment and was given free time to play. They decided to go treasure hunting underwater which Eugene took interest in and began to solo hunt for her golds! It was then that Eugene found a missing hand. The hand was covered in stone-like concrete. Eugene panicked and flew into Louis’s arms who then brought her out of the lake.

After swimming, the Paladins and Zene’s trainees went to get their custom-made bow and arrow. On their way, marriage proposals were made to Aedelak, Dea, and Louis. They met a girl named Claudia who was very clumsy and fainted into the arms of Dea upon meeting him.  Claudia was the daughter of the person who made their custom bows and arrows. Everyone tested out their bow and arrows and did incredibly well.

After that, everyone headed to a cafe and that’s when they met a man by the name of Nameless Musician. The people of Zene were mean to him. And soon he was brought away by Commander Kal who played music to calm him down. Dea explained who the Nameless Musician was and told them that he plays music by the bridge. Music for his lover who had passed away.

On Day 3, Eugene was electrocuted. She had mistakenly thought that the boulder below the breakfast table was a place to put her feet and stepped on it. Fortunately,  Euria saved Eugene from flying to the clouds.

They ran a lot for training that day. They had logs tied to their waist as they ran. That day the Paladins and Zene’s trainees connected in soul and inwardly promised to become inseparable friends. Aeselak won first place in running that day. She ran as fast as lightning because she saw a ‘snake’ (she stepped on poop).

After running, they did circuit training. Everyone wanted to faint. Eugene and Con grouped up and won first place. After that, they did their 3rd training called the whistle test. Louis and Eugene competed for the first place however Louis was mean and snatched first place from Eugene using his strength as a 10-year-old. He was a bully.

After that… things went from downhill to hell.

They were summoned to the palace by a Royal messenger. The Royal messenger relayed that Sir had passed away and that the capital was on fire and to quickly head to the palace for safety. That day, Eugene and Euria encountered the Nameless Musician and helped him hide. The Crown Prince and Zene’s knights almost caught them but they managed to play it off.

And today, the 4th day; They went from hell to being burned alive by Satan.

Euria went out alone to steal eggs. Eugene was caught together with the Crown Prince and Nameless Musician Hal and was brought to the audience room. Louis and the Dukes were furious and everyone went to the audience room to get Eugene back.

The King… went crazy. He had not known that Ario had passed away and went mad. Commander Kal played music to make him sleep. A random guard came in and told Commander Kal that his 21 children had been mercilessly slaughtered at the greenhouse and that only blood was discovered at the crime scene.

Commander Kal blamed it on them and confessed that he was the one who killed Ario. That all the envoys from United West Liasel were hypnotized to forget their suspicions on Zene. Promissum was brought up by Duke Marleigh who told Commander Kal that it was impossible to touch his children.

It was then that they found out that Promissum could be broken if a newborn Royal’s heart was consumed. After shocking them with this statement, he began to hypnotize everyone in the room. He made it so that everyone would sleep and dream about their worst fear.

Louis, Con, and the Crown Prince fell first. Soon everyone began to fall under Commander Kal’s hypnotism, leaving only Eugene and Aernest. Commander Kal stopped playing his instrument and was about to injure Aernest when Eugene stopped his sword with her bare hands and ‘pushed’ him away (she splattered blood on his face). After that, ‘no one knows what happened except that Commander Kal fell and his face began to melt as if he had been doused with acid.

Musician Hal was last to wake up. He recovered his memory through his nightmare and told everyone about him, Kal and Lea. Lea was his fiance. That was until Kal hypnotized him to feel inferior to him which made him go back on his love for Lea. He had run away on Lea’s birthday and when he snapped out of it and came back, it was already too late.

A few years later he met a pregnant Lea who was horrified to see him. Later, when he was ambushed by Kal, he learned that Lea had been hypnotized to believe that Kal was him and that he was Kal.

He went insane and was eventually imprisoned within the palace, but it was too late. Lea had passed away in labor. As revenge, he blew up the forbidden room he was locked in, however failed to kill Kal which led to today…

Musician Hal, Eugene Crown Prince, Aernest, Aedelak, Duke Marleigh, Con, and Dea headed to the forbidden room. Eugene’s purpose was to pick Euria up but Aernest and Aedelak decided to come along. On their way, they encountered Euria who advised them to take the longer route to Kal’s palace. They were lucky because the route they originally wanted to take exploded.

They found at least a hundred stone figures in the forbidden room. Only Eugene, Duke Marleigh, and Aernest truly know what was inside the stone figures. When enemies appeared, Eugene, Crown Prince, Aernest, Aedelak, Con, and Dea took refuge in a secret room they had uncovered. They discovered a group of women who looked identical to each other. The group of women looked like Lea and were Commander Kal’s wives.

One of the wives, Lise, introduced the children to the person who made the stone figures. The person who Lise introduced to them told them that Kal keeps figures that are important to him sells less important ones and buries the rest under the Royal Lake. Kal turns women into tributes to make them bound to him for eternity, to be chained to him even in death. When the group of wives asked the no-name woman about their children, the no-name woman broke it to them that they were too late and that the children had passed yesterday.

The no-name woman revealed the truth of the Queen of Zene’s death, revealing that Crown Prince Nexiel was neither the Queen’s or King’s child, but rather the child of Lea and Kal. That Kal fed Crown Prince Nexiel the heart of the King’s child to break Promissum’s restriction on himself.

Suddenly, Euria pointed out that the no-name woman was Ario. Aernest confirmed Euria’s words. The no-name woman ate a pill that reverted her appearance to her original appearance and began to target Eugene.

To get Eugene, Ario fought Dea. Dea made a mistake and lost. Con wanted to help Dea but got his arm sliced off instead. Aedelak and Musician Hal began fighting Ario when Aedelak slammed the vase she was holding on Ario’s head. This made Ario focus completely on her and just when she was about to get stabbed, time stopped for Ario. Aedelak quickly got out of the way with Eugene’s warning and Ario could move again.

Levis and Moniqua arrived soon after which led to now…

Author’s Note: Zene’s arc is a bit long so I thought to make a summary episode for readers to revisit their memory or recall some things. Sorry if this ep is a bit boring!
