Father Fu had been waiting from Monday to Friday, wanting to go back to Yunnan Province to visit his deceased wife, but he endured his urge whenever he thought about how he had already promised to go down together with his daughter.
Every time he couldn’t help it, he would take out the photo of his deceased wife, sit down in the hotel and chat with the photo for several hours.
Sometimes Father Fu would visit the school and say hello to the researchers in the school laboratory. He was relatively free to enter the strictly managed school with his credentials.
Except for No. 3 courtyards, Father Fu could basically go anywhere in the school, like the campus library.
He went to the school on Thursday to watch the exercise, but unfortunately, he couldn’t see Ye Jian.
The courtyard leaders didn’t know the relationship between Father Fu and Ye Jian. Father Fu also didn’t mention it. He just mentioned that he was Ye Jian’s mother, Sun Xueqing’s comrade and that he wanted to return to Yunnan Province to visit his comrade. The courtyard leaders and team leaders discussed and finally asked if Ye Jian could accompany him.
At 5 o’clock on a Friday evening, Ye Jian went to the airport with Father Fu to return to Yunnan Province.
“I mustn’t look for you so frequently in school next time. Your leader explained to me that you are only allowed to leave for an overnight stay this time. He also said that you are a role model for all the freshman students, so you need to show a good attitude. There are countless people having their eyes on you, so the school has to be more strict with you.”
“If I had known this earlier, I should have gone to your leader and have him tell you that I will go back to Yunnan Province to visit your mother myself.” On the plane, Father Fu was still blaming himself for affecting Ye Jian.
The school had quota restrictions for students to go out during the weekends. Only a few people in a class were allowed to leave the school, and they were only allowed to go out half a day. Thus, Ye Jian’s frequent leave wouldn’t really look good for her.
This was why the team leader told Ye Jian not to let others know that she was locked up in the security room that day. People liked to gossip, and little mistakes would gradually be rumored to the public. This was the leader’s concern.
Ye Jian put away her travel card and then answered Father Fu, “Don’t worry, I won’t be going out anymore for this semester, only this time. I haven’t gone out before; I only went out for business matters.”
To be frank, she didn’t go out during weekends at all from the beginning of school until now, because she knew that she was about to go abroad to participate in the competition, so she had to stay in school for training, and she even asked her instructor to accompany her for her training some times, so she never went out.
Father Fu had read Ye Jian’s attendance and outing records and knew that she did not go out during weekends, so he agreed that Ye Jian would go with him today. If she had gone out before, Father Fu himself would refuse to bring her along today even if this was their first agreement or if the hospital leader agreed.
“You must study hard in school. I can see that school leaders have high expectations of you. Although we are not living for the expectations of others, we should know from the eyes of others that we can actually go higher and farther. Treat other people’s expectations of you as a challenge for yourself, Jian’er, then you will find yourself overcoming difficulties that you once thought were impossible to overcome.”
“Don’t let down the expectations of the school leaders for you, and at the same time, don’t waste your potential. We can still write letters and meet each other frequently next time…”
Father Fu smiled helplessly and shook his head, “It’s difficult to meet frequently. I only have a rare 15-day vacation. Once the holiday is over, I need to return to work. Our next meeting will be at least a year later. Or even two or three years…”
“Write more letters to me, let me know how you are doing in school so that I could at least know what my daughter’s doing in school.”
