“Good evening, Ring County6Ring CountyOne of the counties based in the canton and most notable being the designation for BloodMoon.! You’re watching the Vulx News channel,” the news anchor greeted. “I’m your host, Leon Triplett, with another update regarding the ongoing lockdown set for our cities.
She spoke in her usual gleeful manner as each minute detail of information regarding the lockdown came and went. The same way she did before, like her last report.

‘Looks like the news doesn’t have anything notable again,‘ Starlette presumed internally.
“Is there nothing else happening?” The young lady questioned her television screen while in the comfort of her home.
Having to be greeted with another lockdown after such a long time, it seems like BloodMoon City7BloodMoon CityFounded on the 29th of Mercury, 1921; BloodMoon is a major city based in Ring County that is home to various brands, companies, and people. just kept going through one crisis after another. She turned the television off, nothing good was going to happen if she kept on watching.
Her mind pondered, ‘Just how many regulations does this city need?‘
“Stupid policies, I can’t take much more bull,” she cursed under her breath and turned off the TV, exhausted by the sight of it. She was not spending her night with a sour attitude. Her mind shrugged off the report, maybe the news was just too much for her brain right now. Besides, trying to keep up with each new report on the lockdown would make her more paranoid than ever.
Not to mention, it was a real hassle for her, Starlette did not want to hear that lady’s voice for another month or two. It was already grating enough as it is.
Starlette needed a break from all this nonsense; she suggested, “I’ll just go see what the others are up to, then.” Emitting a tired sigh, she lazily walked to her room to find something to suit her needs. That item was the computer.
She hopped onto her computer and logged onto a group chat with her friends. Starlette waited eagerly to talk with someone online and hoped to hear something else besides BloodMoon’s antics.
To her disappointment (and night), the recent discussion was all about that news update. Begrudgingly, Starlette stuck around to watch the conversation go down, mostly for personal amusement.
She scrolled through past conversations seeing if she missed anything, later noticing that Helm of Riches was online typing. He was the first to start. “Well, that’s great, yet another month full of lockdowns,” he posted.
“Hoping it might be shorter than previous ones,” the message read out with a couple of crossed fingers emotes. He was always the type to reassure people, it just came naturally to him, of all people. Even if the effort would be appreciated, it could not help in the long run.
Mrs. Earth sent a message right after Helm, “These lockdowns are going to turn me into a shut-in, now I have to cancel the plans I made! WHHHYYYY?????”
Although Mrs. Earth was more on the extroverted side, Starlette agreed. Dealing with more rules would surely cause a breaking point; especially, for any limitations of who people can see and for how long.
“Rumor has it that the Officials are reimplementing the 5-Day Policy85-Day PolicyA policy administered by High Officials, although used in drastic measures, remains controversial from its restriction of being allowed to leave your home once per week.,” Red Wing added to the suddenly heated discussion.
“You’ve got to be kidding me, again?! I can barely last 5 minutes,” Outer God of Lernaean responded quickly to what Red Wing had dropped. The group chat couldn’t contain itself; messages were flooded with shock about what the regulations would entail.
And somehow, that shock divulged into quips about staying inside their homes for the entire year.
The chat went too fast for Starlette to read up to that point. Red Wing, or Celeste, as she knew her, could have just made a dumb joke–as bad as it was.
She groaned in annoyance, “Ugh, I can barely get away from this lockdown, I need another way to get my mind cleared.” Starlette got up from her bed and grabbed a favorite novel, reading from a previous chapter she had left off.
A good novel never ceased to help Starlette when she needed it, especially since it was one of Red Herring’s recommendations. She should thank him for the gift when possible; maybe even make a mental note, but she kept putting it on hold.
Its calming nature and ethereal storytelling had her practically enthralled by it, nothing better than to distract herself from what was happening. She promised to appreciate what she had in life; indulging, whether it be simple or sumptuous, for herself.
But why does it feel so difficult now? Did the thought of not seeing those she cares about, even Celeste, of all people, hold her back?
Her fear was immense, yet the young lady comforted herself. Perhaps this lockdown was not as bad as it appeared, hopefully.
‘The lockdown will subside on its own, it just has to,‘ her inner thoughts begged for a good outcome. For now, it was best if she tried to wait this out.
