After Noya left the port, he then took a bus to reach the exam arena, his dream. After an hour, Noya reached the exam hall where selection will be held. There was a huge entrance gate. Seeing the gate, Noya bursted with excitement and said, “I’m very close to becoming a reaper!” He opened the gate and went inside. There are 600 competitors preparing and training for the exam. Noya was exploring everyone and suddenly one of them asked
Boy: How’s your preparation?
Noya: It’s great!
Boy: My name is Shin Kiwa. What’s yours?
Noya: It’s Noya Bayakurai from Jossemburg and I’m only 15
Boy: Noya Bayakurai huh? I’m also 15.
Front door of the hall opened and a group of examiners showed up and one of them said, “We will take your exams and will select the most promising 60 participants. I am Son, the chief of the examiners. Call me Mr. Son. I will guard you in every exam” Thus the exam started.
First, the fitness test. This test involves testing a person’s physical abilities and endurance. By going through harsh stages, among 600 participants, 50% were eliminated. Only 150 participants remained. Noya and Shin successfully passed this test.
But, the problem was the second test, “Mind Game”. In this test, all of the remaining will answer 15 mind questions in a room. The questions are freaking hard to answer. Then, Mr. Son announced that if someone ever tries to cheat, he will be immediately eliminated. All of the examiners were guarding the room strictly. Mr. Son also said, “It’s your bad luck, you have to take this exam. Mind Game was first added to the test 20 years ago and it is the 2nd time it is added. Besides, if you think you are not ready then come back 5 years later in another Selection.” He and all the examiners laughed loudly at them.
Many of the competitors started losing their confidence and will to be a reaper. Many tried to cheat but the examiners threw a knife at their table and eliminated them. Many were blacked out, they were eliminated. An environment of terror was haunting them. Someone screamed high and the remaining started to scare. But Noya and Shin didn’t scare a bit, rather they focused on the questions. Noya answered 2 out of 15 questions. When Noya was about to ask someone, “What’s the answer?” Someone stood up and said, “I have finished my exam, Mr. Son”. Everyone was shocked. Then, Mr. Son smiled a little and said, “Looks like nobody expect that anyone can pass this exam. Heh! Heh! Heh!”
