Q: We’re dishing out the interviews this week. Why? Because the authors keep rolling in! So, without further ado, please welcome LazyButAmbitious with his brand new novel! But first of all, please tell us a little bit about yourself to the audience.
A: I’m your typical above average otaku. Just graduated from high school with decent grades, a few friends, and no girlfriend. In my early days, I was a hardcore anime watcher and gamer. Got in touch with light novels only a few years back, and instantly fell in love, always dreaming of creating my own. That’s when I learned to never criticize something without first trying it as I always thought reading was boring. Keeping this lesson in mind, please check out my novel.
Q: Thank you very much. So, Lazy what is your novel called?
A: ‘Ascension To The Apex’. Neat, right? I know, I know. No need to praise me.
Q: Can you give us a brief summary of the story? You might as well go full out with this question. No rush.
A: The story is about a man, Jaylin, whom from childhood, never had the best of days, even getting the unwanted honor of receiving a front row seat to his parents’ deaths. This, in addition to various other events, caused his personality to become cold. But wait, fate wasn’t finished with him yet. As if irked by the fact that he wasn’t driven to suicide by now, fate gave him a slap to the face by killing him on his first date.
Fortunately, or not, he was transmigrated into a different world by a mysterious force, vaguely comprehended or understood. His troubles weren’t over yet however, as his new body was crippled, incompetent, and worst of all, a girl’s. Malevolent intentions in addition to being discovered as a bastard child, resulted in him, now called Lilin, being driven out of her clan.
However, just when despair was imminent, Jaylin’s A.I Chip system, something obtained back on Earth, rebooted.
The story follows the numerous twists and turns of fate, necks, and limbs, as Lilin treads on her enemies to one day attain the Apex of the magic world.
Q: Interesting stuff and this leads us nicely to the next question: what inspired you to write this sort of story?
A: I was partially inspired by Naruto as my story contains nine-tails elements as well. Truthfully, this story was created over a period of constant daydreaming in class, enlightenment in the shower, as well as the toilet, and while eating. The storyline sounded good so I put pen to paper and everything worked out.
Q: Have you faced any hardships? If so, tell us of any experiences.
A: My laptop kicked the bucket with all of my saved chapters on it. Had to go through hell to get them back. Now, I am doomed to write via tablet until mid summer, when I get a new one.
Q: When authors write, they tend to get a habit or quirk or two. Do you have any?
A: Nibbling my nails during concentration and pondering. Soon after, my fingernails were forged into serrated blades. After I nibble I also scratch my head: a deadly combination.
Q: Do you have any advice for aspiring authors?
A: Just do it! Don’t let your dreams be dreams. Yesterday you said tomorrow (me previously), but look at me now. Stay committed and use those hands for someone else’s enjoyment…through writing. Stay committed, and readers will be committed to you.
Q: Ok, final and my favorite question. What’s the origin of your pen/author name? I mean, it’s pretty straight forward but might as well ask if there’s any hidden meaning.
A: I’m a lazy person, I admit. I may slack off a lot from time to time, but when I work, miracles are created. Similarly, I may be lazy in writing chapters, but when I pick up that pen or device, you will be satisfied.
Q: Final thing before we wrap things up. Tell us a joke.
A: Embarrassing story: One night I had a high fever. Woke up in my mother’s room the next day after going to bed. Confused, I questioned her on what happened. Turns out I started sexually harassing my brothers the previous night and my mother had to subdue me. I had no recollection.
Uhhh…ok then [slowly backs away]. Anyway, that’s it for the interview. Thank you again for joining us and we hope your new novel is a success!
