How did her frail body endured all that?
The more Si Zheng Ting reads the file, the more his heart hurts.
He flings the documents on the coffee table, his eyes turning dark. He looks at the woman lying on the patient’s bed. Her face is small and haggard and her eyes are closed tight. He continues staring at her for a full 30 minutes.
Why does he, someone so powerful, can be such a coward in love?
He clenches his fists tight, his mind in disarray.
On one hand, he pities her so much for her suffering. On the other hand, he is jealous of her mother; Zhuang Nai Nai chose her over him.

By the time Si Jing Yu reaches the ward, Si Zheng Ting in standing on the balcony, smoking.
His usually straight back looks very strained at the moment, as though he is carrying a particularly heavy load. He looks particularly lonely as the cigarette smoke fills the air.
The October air is particularly cold in Beijing.
He is still wearing his clothes from yesterday, not appearing to be cold at all.
Si Jing Yu’s heart drops a little.
She opens the glass door leading to the balcony. Thick smoke rushes towards her, causing her to cough a little.
When Si Zheng Ting hears her, he snubs the cigarette stub and turns around to look at her.
“Don’t you know that you suffered from a minor concussion? Why aren’t you taking care of yourself? Go and rest, I will take care of her for you!” scolds Si Jing Yu.
Si Zheng Ting’s pale face is calm as he says, “No need. Why are you here?”
Si Jing Yu chokes a little. When she remembers her motive for coming here, she casually changes the topic, “Mom said that Nai Nai fainted from overexertion. She told me to find a traditional doctor to treat her. You should get yourself checked as well.”
Si Zheng Ting’s minor concussion has no visible after-effect as of now, but Ding Mengya is still very worried. That’s why she asked Si Jing Yu to find a traditional doctor to check on him.
Si Jing Yu knows that Si Zheng Ting will never agree to getting looked at if she says is directly, so she uses Zhuang Nai Nai as an excuse.
Sure enough, Si Zheng Ting agrees. He lets the smoke completely dissipates first before opening the door back to the ward.
Si Jing Yu looks at his considerate action, stunned.
She has always known that he likes Zhuang Nai Nai very much, but not to this degree.
Inside the ward, the traditional doctor walks towards Si Zheng Ting, “Please take your arm out.”
Si Zheng Ting motions towards Zhuang Nai Nai who is lying on the bed, “Check on her.”
The doctor is a little confused. Isn’t he here to check on Mr. Si? Why are they asking him to check on someone else?
But, when the doctor sees the look on Si Zheng Ting’s face, he is tactful enough not to ask questions. He walks towards the bed and checks Zhuang Nai Nai’s pulse.
The doctor’s face changes a couple of times before finally putting her hand down.
Si Zheng Ting properly covers Zhuang Nai Nai with her blanket first before turning towards the doctor, “How is she?”
“Madam is indeed overworked, but she is not in a dangerous situation. Just let her rest for a while and she will be fine. Just……”
