Chapter 60

Those soldiers took the impact of the vicious apex by their chests and got planted on the wall of carriage where they took their last breath from blood leaking mouths.
Wave of arrows came again, targeting those who had bows with them.
This was their plan. Commander Eiga realized.
End of the realization brought anger in him. He couldn’t stop himself from drawing his sword out of sheath on his waist. He got his kill not much later after escaping from hammer of a tall man. Eiga shortened his legs then removed head from his shoulders.
Ambushers had come with heavy handled lances and maces. The red haired commander had moved to another ambusher whereas his soldiers were struggling to fight with the distance. By the time attackers ran out of their lances to be thrown, they had managed to kill significant number of soldiers.
People with short lances kept piercing soldiers while keeping the room of safety whereas bigger men splattered brains out of Wernh’An’s soldiers with their maces.
Soldiers were somehow successful in killing. Attackers found arrows planted on their backs. Eiga noticed their strategy when he saw his soldier getting hit by an arrow just after beheading an attacker.
In the end, soldiers got grasp of their shields and tied them on their backs to avoid getting hit by arrows coming from back. Arrows deflected on shields as tall as the people themselves. There were more shields left than people. And it was a worrying sign for Commander Eiga.
A fat man was about to club Eiga’s head from behind. Eiga moved aside, spinning with his sword. When his motion ended intestines spilled out from the attacker’s abdomen.
Swords and hammers were colliding. Creating tune of mayhem in the way along. Swing, miss, cut. This was how things kept on going for a while.
Wounded men fell and got swords in their chests and the injured got slaughtered in attempt to crawl underneath the carts. Commander Eiga hacked off another man’s head. Almost every headless corpse was result of Eiga’s sword. Tall or short, Eiga always found a way to put his blade through someone’s neck.
Likewise, someone also discovered a way to jam his arrow through Eiga’s armor. The arrow passed from the gap between his chest guard and abdomen armor. Arrow’s tip was touching other side of armor but didn’t get past the metal. Eiga tried to pull the arrow which had made its way under his rib cage.
He ended up coughing clots of blood.
Shooter on the tree had been making attempts to hit Eiga from a long time. He was glad Eiga had failed no judge the reason behind those arrows coming towards him only. But when he did hit him, he failed to find glory in it.
Eiga stood like a statue, staring at the man whose arrow he had in his body. The shooter was hit with disbelief. As well as his fellow men with crossbow on various branches of the same tree.
Red haired commander separated the arrow from his body then planted it in a thin man’s eye socket and took out a weapon from his boots reaching up to his knees. The ambushers on the spot were showing hesitancy to lock horns with Commander Eiga. Even with his back turned at them, nobody dared to paint their lances from Eiga’s blood.
Eiga threw the metal boomerang, targeting for trunk of the tree.
Shooters felt mild jolt when the boomerang made an exit from the trunk.
Eiga was still standing there but was not waiting for his weapon to come back in his hands. Shooters clutched the branches when the tree started to fall.
The ambushers with crossbows got crushed underneath the mammoth tree. Dust rose from the spot when Eiga kneeled to lift his sword. He felt heat rising in his body and could palpate throbbing sensation in his eyes.
Ambushers took their steps back after seeing Commander Eiga rising with his orange eyes glowing.
