Cavern of Fire and Ice

Upon crossing the dimension gate, Abner and Eiya have now entered the dragon realm. They frantically looked around to get accustomed to their new surroundings if there were signs of danger. Soon, they realized that they were in a unique cave with rock walls composing of red and blue minerals.

“I guess we’re safe for now. But I’ll materialize just to be safe” Eiya’s spiritual weapon, Zillburst appeared in her hand. The staff had a large arc at its casting edge with two intricate protrusions around it. An azure orb rested on top of the arc of the staff.

The two siblings proceeded to walk deeper into the cave while trying to look out for each other’s back. The passage led them into a much larger cavern of the cave where they spotted two huge figures in the distance. Upon closer inspection, Eiya realized that they were dragons and immediately stopped Abner in his tracks.

“Stay back, we’re not sure if they are hostile”

Eiya then started to swing her wand and launched a flurry of ice shards from Zillburst. Startled from the attack, the two dragons turned their attention to them. Despite trying her best, Eiya’s attacks had negligible effect on the dragons.

“Kids from the other dimension? That’s a first. Also, we mean you no harm, little girl” said a voice in Abner’s and Eiya’s heads.

As the dragon came closer towards Eiya and Abner, they could see it had crimson red scales covering its large body. The dragon had a set of unique wings, with a large horn protruding at the bend of the wing. Traces of smoke emitted from its powerful jaw as it stared at them from above. The other dragon behind it had pale blue scales and sharp icy protrusions from its  back and wings. It seemed to be engulfed in an aura of cold mist as it laid behind the red dragon. With their huge muscular physiques and unrelenting glares, the dragons looked very intimidating to Abner and Eiya  even though they were not hostile to them.

“If you’re searching for Jeph Chivesker, your new dragon contractor left this realm a few weeks ago after forging a contractor with Prince Ajolt in the capital.”

“Yes regarding that matter, something serious has happened in our dimension…” Abner then started to explain the situation in Kaigran to the dragons. There were a few minutes of silence from the dragons after Abner’s explanation before the red dragon raised his head and started to converse with them.

“Hmm…this is worrisome. I hope nothing bad will happened to Lord Largin. He should be able to hold his own given that his contracted dragon was the previous emperor of our capital, Vyer. Nevertheless, I regret to inform you that I and Frintric are unable to assist you much with our given situation at the moment”

The red dragon then proceeded to introduce himself as Blahaze and the blue dragon as Frintric. Blahaze was discriminated by dragons in the capital for being a dragon that possesses abnormal reactions when he tries to form a contract with other humans. As such, he and his sibling, Frintric decided to run from the capital and their pursuers. Blahaze and Frintric created the cavern that they are in using their powers and it has been their makeshift home ever since.

“The enemies that have the audacity to attack Lord Largin and Kaigran are probably very strong themselves and should not be taken for granted. Your father probably sent you to this dimension to protect you from the potential dangers that may befall on you if u had stayed. You two should take refuge with us for a few days for Kaigran’s Council to sort things out. Also, it may not be much but we could try to teach you some self defensive techniques from our knowledge before we send you two back to your dimension.”

After assessing the situation like what his father had told him before, Abner accepted the offer from the dragons. For roughly about two weeks, Abner and Eiya trained with Frintric and Blahaze in the cavern. Frintric meticulously taught Eiya some dragon arts techniques since she seemed to be more interested in mastering them. However, her progress was only limited since she would need to have a dragon partner to learn the more advanced techniques. Blahaze on the other hand taught Abner on materializing his own spiritual weapon and basic combat skills.

“Close your eyes and tap into your subconscious mind. Clear out the unwanted external interferences. Now try to imagine the people, place or anything you wish to protect and picture yourself standing in front of them. Remember, the strength of a warrior is not determined by the hatred he has for the enemy, but his desire to protect whatever is behind him. Now, what do you see yourself holding in your arms?”

“A white flame. A luminous fiery spear…” murmured Abner to Blahaze. At this moment, Blahaze paused for a few seconds as he tried to recall something similar he had heard in a common folklore known in the dragon realm a long time ago. He eventually resumed to guide Abner through the process.

“Ok now, grasp onto that item of hope. You should be able to chant its name by now”

“Materialize, Smolderash!” exclaimed Abner as he called forth his spiritual weapon. The cave was then enveloped in a bright light as it overflowed with Abner’s spiritual energy.
