Less than an hour later, he reached near a pyramid. The footprints were going all the way inside there. Roderick had no plan in his mind on how to deal with the situation which could arise inside the pyramid. He wanted to know their weaknesses first and act according to it. For doing so, he needed to take chances.
The prints led him to the underground way. Roderick didn’t feel like he should be burning anything for light. Footprints were glowing in the dark.
Roderick was keeping his ears alert, but he was yet to hear anything suspicious so he continued to get in there. Deeper inside the pyramid he saw a mirror as tall as him.
“Intruder! Get out!” the mirror snapped at him.
Roderick ignored him and watched around. He reckoned it was the devils’ room. Various statues and big objects were lying everywhere in the room. Most of them were broken and nothing else was kept upright except the noisy mirror.
“Go away, thief. I am warning you.” Mirror was refusing to be silent.
“If I was a thief, then I would have taken a talking mirror with me.” Roderick fired back at him.
“I have captured your image. I will show your face to Chopyk when he comes here.” Mirror threatened him.
“Isn’t he here?” Roderick got startled.
“He has gone to bring a new gift for Isolda.”
“I guess you are also a gift for her.” Roderick said.
“Yes. But I am not ashamed of being so. I am the only gift she likes.” Mirror boasted.
“What do you do, huh? Give fake admirations for her beauty?”
“Go away, you ugly ass scum.”
“Bad mirror!” Roderick saw his reflection on him. He was a fine looking man. Still, he couldn’t keep the insult away from him.
“What’s ugly in my face?”
“Your chin!” the mirror said.
This is fine. Roderick touched his chin, looking at the reflection. In the same mirror he saw a red figure thrice his height looking at him. Roderick swiveled, but Chopyk was faster.
He caught Roderick and said, “I was wondering whose tiny steps they were.” Roderick got a closer look at the devil’s face. His horns were glowing red in anger.
“He came here to steal me.” the mirror said.
“You are giving me a reason to break you.” Roderick said with discomfort around his body. Chopyk was crushing him.
While in pain, he saw a golden bull on floor beside Chopyk.
“Is this the new gift for Isolda?” Roderick grunted. He felt a burning sensation around his body. Roderick was sure he would become a burnt piece of meat if Chopyk wouldn’t let him go.
“I will burn you, t***.” Chopyk said.
He wasn’t kidding.
“You will make this place messier than. Isolda will come and argue with you again. This mirror will show her who made ashes here.” Roderick said.
He felt heat reduced, but it was not relieving. Chopyk could still change his mind.
“What kind of devil brings brazen bull to his angry wife?” Roderick played the last card.
“Brazen bull?” Chopyk’s eyes expanded. He dropped Roderick and picked it up. Chopyk shook it to hear something rattling inside. Then he went on to touch the lid.
“Don’t open it. Smell of burnt flesh will be horrendous.”
“People put their own kind in this thing?” Chopyk placed it back on floor, “I thought it was a jangling toy.”
“See Chopyk, way to a woman’s heart is not by a torture device. I’ll help you to win her heart back.” Roderick smiled.
“How?” Chopyk’s horns stopped illuminating, “She looks happy only with Bartholomew.”
“Who is Bartholomew?”
“I think she is having an affair with him. Ever since she met him, she started to argue with me.” Chopyk said in a trembling voice.
“You know they are having an affair or it is just your thought?”
“Not sure.”
“Okay, Chopyk. I will go and find what’s between them. Where is she?”
“She goes for hunting in Purple Forest. Go west and you will find a forest where every tree is purple. Maybe you will find her there.”
“Keep the room clean. No woman likes dirty house.”
“Meet me behind this pyramid when you come back.” Chopyk said.
While Chopyk began to pick the broken gift from the floor, Roderick left for the forest.
