“Worry not, this is the right one.” Wu Feng knew that he was doubtful and patted the team leader’s shoulders to reassure him.
Su Jin Long eagerly brought over two cups of hot water, “Uncles must be thirsty, drink some hot water.”
“Thank you, little comrade. We have a presumptuous request and the matter is urgent. We ask that Comrade Su Mian come with us to the barracks.” Wu Feng was straight to the point as they could not delay any longer.
He Qin was anxious when she heard this. Even though the Army was trustworthy, her daughter was only 18 so she did not feel at ease for her to leave with them. “Comrades of the Army, where is your barracks? What is your designation number?”
“This…” Wu Feng showed a reluctant expression as there was no way he could tell her that.
Su Mian knew that He Qin was worried about her. Having been a soldier before, she knew that the things He Qin asked about were military secrets. She hastily held He Qin’s hand, “Mother, all the things you asked about are secrets and the Army comrades cannot tell you.”
“Is that so?” He Qin looked at Wu Feng and the team leader suspiciously, yet the more they did not speak, the more she worried.
“Mother, do not worry, I will be fine.”
“How can I not worry, your father is not home either. You are a girl leaving with two men. If you were lost, where would mother go to find you?” He Qin’s eyes reddened as she said this.
“Mother, they are the Army, they will not lie to us.”
Su Jin Long laughed and patted his chest, “Mother, I will accompany my sister. You can rest assured with me protecting my sister!”
When he finished speaking, he ran into Su Mian’s room and brought out the medicine box. “See, I can still help my sister.”
Su Jin Long could not sit still once he heard that they were going to take Su Mian to the barracks and could not wait to leave right away.
He wanted to see what the Army lived in, what they ate, and how could they all be so energetic? It would be even better if he could see their daily training.
With the siblings chiming in together, they finally reassured He Qin. Wu Feng also pledged over and over that he would send them back safely and only then did they leave.
The mountain roads were rugged, plus it was dark and slippery. The jeep drove for 5 whole hours before arriving at the barracks. It was already 11pm when they reached the barracks.
On the way, Wu Feng had already explained the situation to Su Mian.
It turned out that half a month ago, their troops had come to the mountains in this area to practise combat. When some of them first began to vomit and have diarrhoea, they thought it was just a lack of acclimatisation.
The troops had brought a military doctor and nurse who had prescribed medicine. A few people had taken it but had not gotten better at all. The next day, there were more people who were vomiting and had diarrhoea.
Later on, more than a dozen people had developed this condition. When the leader saw that the situation was not good, he quickly contacted the county hospital. The county hospital sent over a few doctors and gave them vaccinations. After tossing about for another two days, there still was no sign of improvement and the number of patients had now increased to 50.
There were more and more patients and the county hospital doctors had no other options. In the end, they said that there was a miracle doctor in Apricot Village who specialized in treating all kinds of difficult diseases. Apart from helping men give birth, there was nothing that he could not cure.
They told them to ask the miracle doctor to come and try. They also said that the miracle doctor was too old to move freely and had specifically asked them to bring a stretcher.

“Sister, look at you, rumors have spread until they were distorted!” Su Jin Long jumped out of the car with the medicine box on his back. Seeing the soldier standing guard at the gate of the barracks, he gave a military salute.
The soldier stood straight and still with a strained smile on his face.
He had no idea where the boy came from, but that shoddy military salute almost made him break his posture!
Putting on a white coat, mask and gloves, Su Mian went to see the patients directly.
She had already suspected that these patients had been infected with the norovirus.
