chapter 72 – Deep Frown

Dear Readers. Scrapers have recently been devasting our views. At this rate, the site (creativenovels .com) might...let's just hope it doesn't come to that. If you are reading on a scraper site. Please don't.

As Nick was flying in the sky and wondering about the realm he was exploring, he noticed some moving black spots in the sky. In usual circumstances, these should not be noticeable to most people, as the place was dark and these creatures were dark-colored as well. From the look of it, there should be about 10-15 of them.

As the distance between him and these creatures reduced, Nick had the chance to inspect them more closely.

The creatures looked like enlarged crows. They had one difference though—they had three wings, with one place on their back.

‘Three-Winged Crow’

‘Level 1 (Imper Level Creature – Physical)’

‘Abilities’

‘Proficient Flying’

‘Diving’

‘Description’

“Three-Winged Crows belong to the family of ‘Intelligent Crows’; the more wings the crow and the individual of the race have, the more power and level it implies.’

‘Compared to the other bird-races, the Three-Winged Crows are physical when they are weak and master of magic as they upgrade their levels. Most of them live in small islands in the Colos Stone Ocean.’

Nick read the information about the crows. He did not attack them and just kept flying wondering what they were going to do. Nick was not accustomed to battling in the sky but he believed that these creatures, at least in the present numbers, had no chance to defeat him even in the sky.

The Three-Winged Crows noticed Nick too but after sensing that this strange being had some kind of energy and that the energy was powerful, they did not pause or hover and kept flying. Nick too did not chase them and continued flying. It was a weird encounter.

As Nick kept flying, after about ten minutes, he noticed a land. The land was small and Nick could see it border-to-border from the sky.

Different from the other lands, Nick noticed that this island has some sort of plantation on it. Not like a forest or anything green but just the tiniest proven fact of ‘life’ and ‘greenery’ like yellow bushes. Nick descended on the island and started looking around.

“In terms of land quality and other parameters, this place is better than the Grey Stone Island. There is a strong disparity between understanding the obvious, and the other matters that people would try to understand.”

Nick felt that this island was a little different. It had some kind of energy that gave him power.

He opened his Wave Radar and looked for creatures. Weirdly, he did not find any creatures at all. Nick was trying to understand why a place such as this had no life forms; this was shocking in itself. He believed that life on this island was better than Grey Stone Island.

At this time, he felt his hair stand on its ends and a sense of trepidation clouded his mind. Last time he sensed something was the first time that he was got attacked by an Undead Archer on his shoulder which needed amputation to save his life.

Sure enough, there was danger. He noticed a projectile, like an arrow, shoot towards him. The shot was headed right for his heart.

Nick, even with his ability and magic level, did not have the chance to see the arrow at all.

“Dfffs…”

The arrow hit Nick’s shield and almost cracked the shield down. Nick did not wait a moment and started flying as he noticed the creature that attacked him. The creature was not alone, and most likely was not a creature.

It was completely made up of stone and its body shape was similar to a human, with one particular difference — it had two heads.

The size of the creature was around 2.10 meters. It was muscular and looked strong. But it did not radiate any life energy or magical energy; it was just an object.

This was why Wave Radar could not detect these creatures.

‘Ancient Stone Archer’

‘Level 10 (Prive Level Mid Physical)’

‘Description’

‘A humanoid statue with two heads, capable of using ‘Stone Bow’ with a strong power to propel arrows’

‘Abilities’

‘Power Shot (Uses pure physical power to pull the string of the ‘Stone Bow’ to shoot an arrow, 30% penetration, 50% more power, 70% more arrow-speed, 1% (damage to Stone Bow)”

‘Marksman Level 5 (When using ‘Bow’ and ‘Ranged-Weapons’, 50% more damage caused to the enemy.)’

‘Stone Body – Stone Being (Like a Stone Being, it does not need food, rest, or any kind of living requirements such as the sun or anything. As long as it was not eroded by time or water, the stone statue will live forever)’

After Nick read the abilities of the weird stone creature, he understood why it almost broke down his shield. If his passive shield was not active, the arrow shot by this creature would have enough power to penetrate his body and open a hole the size of a fist, finishing him with ease.

Nick believed that in direct combat, a handful of these creatures could best him. His Sonic Bullet would not have enough power to kill these creatures in one shot. At the same time thinking about their object-like nature, they would not be afraid or make any mistakes because of emotions.

They were like robots made up of stone.

Of course, this was only if Nick wanted to fight them in an equal stance. He can always go far away, leave their range and shoot, hunting them one by one or drop a ‘Vacuum Bomb’ spell on their heads to blow them up into smithereens.

Considering that their level was higher than him by about ‘Four Levels’, Nick could say that taking these creatures down by using tactics was still a good idea.

Facing an arrow shot by this creature reminded Nick once that how important defence and defensive spells were.

If by any chance this creature was at the level of ‘Provec’, which should be about the level of 16, it was most likely that the ‘Power Shot’ ability would penetrate through his shield and penetrate his chest.

It seemed that he needed to add more defensive measures and spells to his arsenal if he wanted to live to tell a tale.

If not, he was going to understand firsthand what dying before the chance to fend an attack meant.
