Perhaps even Xia Rongrong30Xia RongrongPresident/CEO of the Xia Group, one of the few wealthy and powerful company/family at Qinghe City hadn’t realized the impact her smile would have on the other people around her.
Did I really see that? Xia Rongrong, the president of the Xia Group, who had always been cold to others, actually smiled at a taxi driver. Not only that, even the fool could see the traces of happiness in her eyes. Both of them clearly knew each other. In fact they seem to be…very close!
Li Zhonghai felt as if he had been hit by a stick. Cold sweat rolled down his face as he stared at Su Qiubai23Su QiubaiProtagonist, a taxi driver with a powerful and mysterious navigation system. Sometimes written as the old driver in this novel.. Shang Wenhu on the other hand, couldn’t describe what he was feeling, it was like someone had stuffed poop down his throat, and he couldn’t swallow it nor spit it out. As for Liu Mo, her mind went blank.
How could Xia Rongrong know Su Qiubai?
She couldn’t think of an answer, it was absolutely impossible to imagine!
She understood Su Qiubai well; his family lived in the rural area, and his sister went to a university in Donghai City. He didn’t have any wealthy relatives nor was he personally rich. Seriously, he was merely a simple taxi driver.
Without an answer, Liu Mo panicked. Suddenly, she realized that she couldn’t comprehend the driver standing right in front of her.
Su Qiubai didn’t notice a thing. He only felt relieved after seeing Xia Rongrong saunter towards him.
“I was looking for you from the first floor to all the way up here.”
“Why didn’t you call?” Realizing that there were too many people around then, Xia Rongrong hid her smile, but she didn’t notice that her tone was still gentle.
“I didn’t call because I didn’t want to disturb you.” Su Qiubai replied with a grin.
Xia Rongrong felt touched though she didn’t show it. Just as she was about to continue, she noticed Liu Mo and Shang Wenhu’s pale faces. Recalling Li Zhonghai’s unusual expression earlier and glancing at Su Qiubai’s vest, she roughly guessed what had just transpired.
“This is…” Facing Su Qiubai, she softly inquired.
Su Qiubai snorted and was about to answer, but Li Zhonghai interrupted him.
“President Xia, is this your friend? It’s all a misunderstanding, we were just chatting.”
Cold sweat rolled down his face. Having that said, he looked at Su Qiubai pitifully.
The heck, you want me to pity you now? Yet you dared to accuse me for affecting your image earlier, what happened to your attitude now?
Planning to get revenge on him, Su Qiubai grinned.
“This guy ordered me to leave!”
Li Zhonghai made a face, and secretly scolded the taxi driver on the inside for arrogantly relying on his minor relationship with the president to attain revenge.
But even then, Li Zhonghai never thought that Xia Rongrong would kick up a great fuss about it. Even if they’re friends, she couldn’t possibly fire me because of such small matter.
With that in mind, Li Zhonghai intended to apologize, but Xia Rongrong’s glare made him feel that something was wrong.
This woman is angry! He had been in the Xia Group for so many years, so he understood Xia Rongrong pretty well. He felt extremely nervous at this moment!
Do they have an unusual relationship?
Just as that idea came to his head, Xia Rongrong sharply spoke, “Please submit your resignation letter to my office later.”
With that sentence, the whole crowd became silent.
What is she doing? Li Zhonghai, who’s about to be promoted to vice president, was actually fired because of a taxi driver?
Sure enough, Li Zhonghai froze.
“President Xia, this…this is too much. Even if he’s your friend, can’t I just apologize?”
Holding a tight smile in place, Li Zhonghai tried to argue.
“Do you really think that he’s just a friend? If you’re unsatisfied, then you can submit the letter to the board of directors, they’ll give you a satisfactory answer.”
After calmly saying that, Xia Rongrong looked away from Li Zhonghai.
“Let’s go, they’re waiting for you upstairs.” She whispered to Su Qiubai; her tone gentle again.
Su Qiubai actually felt a little embarrassed. He didn’t really mean for Li Zhonghai to get fired. He just wanted to give that narrow-minded guy a lesson. He didn’t expect it to end like that. However, since Xia Rongrong had already dealt with it, he quietly left the venue, smiling.
Shang Wenhu let out a sigh of relief after they left. As for Liu Mo, she was still staring at where Su Qiubai had disappeared to.
When Su Qiubai left, he didn’t even bother to look at her. He really doesn’t care about me anymore…
Liu Mo suddenly felt a sense of sadness, as if she had just realized that she had lost the most important thing in her life, but it was too late for regrets…
Li Zhonghai was even more sullen. He had worked in this company for so many years, why was he fired because of a darn taxi driver.
He couldn’t believe it!
So, he called up the vice president after leaving the hall. Having clearly explained the situation, the vice president became speechless. After quite some time, he explained.
“Mr. Li, you have to carefully think over this matter. Why was President Xia so cruel this time? This time… I can’t help you, no one can. I heard that the new shareholder who saved the Xia Group is a taxi driver…”
The phone hung up right after that sentence. Li Zhonghai was stunned; he was frozen from the top of his head to the soles of his feet.
The new shareholder… is here for a meeting today! And Xia Rongrong’s attitude earlier… I should’ve noticed it!
Shang Wenhu and Liu Mo also came out at that moment, so Li Zhonghai immediately marched towards them.
“Shang Wenhu, I’ll kill you! That taxi driver’s the new shareholder of the Xia Group, you betrayed me!”
Upon saying that, Li Zhonghai grappled Shang Wenhu’s neck, and the two men immediately started grappling each other.
Standing stock still at the side, Liu Mo was dumbfounded after hearing his words.
How can that be! Su Qiubai’s the new shareholder of the Xia Group?! The one who saved the company?!
Liu Mo didn’t care much about the two men’s fight; she felt lost, especially after remembering Su Qiubai’s tranquil eyes when he looked at her.
That man…should’ve been mine.
Su Qiubai and Xia Rongrong were alone as they walked to the conference room.
“Would it be bad for you to fire him?”
Although he knew that Xia Rongrong was just trying to get justice for him, Su Qiubai still worried that her actions would be detrimental to her.
She chuckled and said, “You’ve done so much for the Xia Group, yet, he insulted you. According to the rules, he should’ve been expelled… Besides, Li Zhonghai has always been in contact with the Li Group, and was double-crossing both companies. I used to worry about not being able to deal with him, so this was just an opportunity.”
After explaining, Xia Rongrong glanced at Su Qiubai.
There was another reason that she kept to herself: she disliked other people talking bad about Su Qiubai. In fact, she wouldn’t have been that angry if they despised her instead…
Upon hearing those words, Su Qiubai felt relieved, as Xia Rongrong wouldn’t face any issue. Anyway, Li Zhonghai deserved that treatment.
Both of them walked to the door of the conference room. Before going in, Su Qiubai stopped once more when he noticed that there were a lot of people inside in the room.
“Can I not go in?”
He just felt that it was meaningless to attend the meeting. When he gave Xia Rongrong the ginseng, he had merely wanted to help her; he didn’t plan on becoming a shareholder.
It may be that Xia Rongrong noticed the helplessness in Su Qiubai’s eyes, she understood, “If you don’t want to go in, then forget it. I’ll handle it for you.”
That pleased the old driver, he smiled.
“Sure, I’ll be leaving now. I’ll treat you to some skewers tonight! Remember to rest more.”
He nagged as he ran away in his vest.
Xia Rongrong’s eyes remained on Su Qiubai’s back. She couldn’t resist a smile, warmth filled her heart.
He truly just wanted to help me…
After leaving the building, Su Qiubai planned to go home and sleep.
He was tired from these past few days, all he wanted to do now was to go home and take a good sleep, then cook something for himself.
Heading downstairs, he found his car still parked where he left it. He walked towards it, fished out his keys, opened the door and hopped in. Just as he was about to start the engine, he spotted a crowd in a distance.
He originally didn’t plan on bothering them, but then he heard a yell exclaiming that someone had fainted.
So, he quickly jumped out of his car, and ran towards the crowd. After pushing through, he found a girl in a simple T-shirt and a cap, lying on the ground. He couldn’t see how she looked like.
Someone had called the ambulance. More and more people joined the crowd but no one dared to get any closer.
However, Su Qiubai didn’t care. He would never turn his back on such an incident. His mindset was that, if this was a scam, he would rather be fooled. He felt it was worth it, even if the chances of the person having actually fainted was one out of ten!
But when he turned the girl around, he was astounded.
I know her!
Although Su Qiubai didn’t know that her name was Gu Chengya29Gu ChengyaAlso written as Cheng Ya or Miss Gu. The mistress of the Gu family; Grandpa Gu's favourite granddaughter., he saw her during the race at Kangzhuang Avenue28Kangzhuang AvenueThe place where Su Qiubai first met the Street Racers Gang, Cheng Ya, Xiao Dao, Gu Zhanchuan and others. It was also where he first raced with Cao Toufei and Xiao Dao.. He surely wouldn’t have forgotten her so quickly, after all she was such a beautiful girl.
At that moment, Gu Chengya’s face was pale and her eyes half-closed. She slowly opened her eyes after noticing Su Qiubai.
Many people around exclaimed that the ambulance would be here soon; some of them yelled for someone to bring her to the hospital by car.
However, Gu Chengya refused. “I don’t have to go to the hospital. I know my illness.”
She insisted on sitting up, all the while continuing to smile at Su Qiubai. He was surprised for words, because he too also knew that the girl’s sickness… was impossible to be cured in the hospital!
Unexpectedly, when Gu Chengya opened her eyes earlier, Su Qiubai felt as if he had seen through her. He was also aware that her body’s composition was different from ordinary people, especially the position of her heart. She was obviously ill.
Gu Chengya didn’t know what Su Qiubai had seen. If she did, she certainly would have been scared. Her illness had been discovered when she was just ten years old, and the person who diagnosed her at that time, was an old master of the country’s medical profession!
Moreover, with the diagnosis results, the old master said a sentence.
He said… “Unless Hua Tuo25Hua TuoAlso known as Hua Yuanhua or Yuan Hua. An ancient Chinese godly doctor/acupuncturist is still alive, Gu Chengya will sure die!”
