Book II – Bandit, Chapter 14 – Divine Spark appears! Saving Aiken Moon!

“Where are we going, young master?” Dessa Chimes was riding on Jodye’s broad back as he ran through the forest, before jumping and taking to the trees.

“I learned something new, so I wanted to test it out. However, first, we need to find a suitable guinea pig,” chuckled Jodye evilly. One could only imagine the future fate of this guinea pig.

“AH! Back! Get back! Stay further away from this young master this instant! Help!! Someone help!”

Jodye Trill was clad in regal blue raiment jumping through the trees, searching for new prey for trying out his divine powers on. Suddenly, his divine sense picked up a voice in distress nearby. He immediately summoned [Pharaoh’s Law4Lawthe rules and principles that create, govern, and maintain the energies of the universe. When laws come into harmony they form different systems naturally, with as many functions as the laws in harmony. For laws to enter a state of harmony, they must be compatible and have a proper conduit such as a star, or anything with its own unique Origin source law. With a good enough conduit it is possible to make incompatible laws reach a state of harmony, but in such a scenario there is a high chance of the force turning cancerous. The condensation of law energy produces what is known as Force or Qi..], making his sapphire eyes turn vertical and bestial. Jodye extended his divine awareness in the direction of the previous sound fluctuation and witnessed an exciting scene 220 meters to the southeast.

Jodye switched directions and headed straight for that location, reaching the scene in no time. Watching from above he saw a slightly dirty looking lad with short white hair cowering underneath a rock ledge that was blocked by a fallen tree. He was wearing rags and appeared malnourished, but there was a faint origin energy fluctuation coming from his body. This shocked Jodye, not because a slave had this presence, but because he realized just now that Dessa also possessed this exact same presence.

“So could Dessa actually be a Sage body? I don’t get it, was she been injured? Or does it have something to do with the previous curse seal?” Jodye Trill decided to put these thoughts out of his mind for now.

A large, but obviously young looking, feline with black and silver fur was savagely swiping its sharp claws at the boy but couldn’t reach him. 30 meters away from them, amidst dozens of broken trees that made a junky clearing, two fierce and vicious beasts were battling! There was an oversized lion with black fur and a silver mane, that looked to be around 8 meters tall when standing on its hind legs.

“Target identified! Level 2 Vicious Beast27Vicious BeastMonster Clan beast that possesses Second Rank lifeblood. Vicious beasts are animals that can absorb and refine the forces of the heavens and earth. As a result, they are far more powerful than the animals who can’t. Level 1 Vicious Beast = 20 bp Level 2 Vicious Beast = 60 bp Level 3 Vicious Beast = 110 bp Level 4 Vicious Beast = 170 bp Level 5 Vicious Beast = 240 bp Level 6 Vicious Beast = 320 bp Level 7 Vicious Beast = 410 bp Level 8 Vicious Beast = 510 bp Level 9 Vicious Beast = 620 bp, Shadowblitz Lion!” the mechanical voice of Trippy rang out in Jodye’s mind. Looking at the smaller Shadowblitz kitten, Jodye knew this must be the adult Shadowblitz Lion’s offspring.

Fighting bitterly against the level 2 Shadowblitz Lion was a three meter tall white stag with shimmering golden antlers and hooves. The stag’s back left leg had savage gashes in the shape of fang marks, and it was injured severely. Things didn’t look very good for this beautiful stag.

“Target identified! Level 2 Vicious Beast, Deep Mountain Stag!” said Trippy.

“Oh no, Mr. Jupiter!” Dessa Chimes covered her pretty little mouth with her hands, “Mr. Jupiter, I know him! I remember that’s little Aiken Moon! He was one of the field slaves at the Chimes Estate. He escaped with three others the same day that you fell from the hole in the sky!”

Jodye Trill let Dessa down and then pondered in silence momentarily. Thinking quickly, he suddenly understood how he could cause such a big commotion crash landing in a herb field and yet no one noticed. So it turns out there was an escape attempt in progress! It’s no wonder security was lacking. They were out looking for escapees.

Apparently, this escape attempt was successful.

After all, it wasn’t until several days later that Jodye slaughtered Desmond Chimes. The escaped slaves should have been long caught during that time. From a certain point of view, he could be said to owe this little Aiken and crew a favor. They caused a distraction big enough to cover his recuperation.

Thus, he decided to save this little guy before more people showed up.

Jodye extended his divine awareness to its current limit of 300 meters and noticed two different parties spying on the scene from the shadows. They were likely hunters, hoping to get the drop on one or both of these beasts once they were weakened.

“You must intimidate, but do not be too showy. Make it look easy, and a result of overwhelming might! If it is too fancy, it will look like a secret treasure,” came the cold voice of Sylvester Tricko via telepathy. “Do not overexpose yourself, but use your heritage to intimidate them.”

“Go full force with origin energy and see what happens, I got it,” Making up his mind, Jodye directly ignored Sylvester’s words and leaped into the air releasing the golden atmosphere that was signature to Sophomore rank Sages. Sylvester was speechless, but also relieved.

This was definitely the kid he remembered.

Milky white origin energy rose from his body like steam, and primary force phenomena took shape above him in the form of 16 white light spheres the size of marbles. A dragon roar was heard from within Jodye’s body, and the number of white light spheres doubled! The three combat seeds in his origin pool begin to vibrate, causing 45 more white light spheres to form for a total of 77 BP! Tiny blue webs of electricity danced on his skin and 20 yellow electric light spheres condensed into existence. Now there were a total of 97 power spheres dancing in no particular shape like little starlights. All of this took time to describe but happened within a couple of seconds.

Jodye’s current origin force possessed the strength of 97 BP. Three more points and his force momentum would start building. Of course, he could also borrow momentum from the primary force phenomenon! Jodye didn’t waste any more time as the 97 lights behind him glowed brilliantly, and mystic light poured out from the light spheres merging into his body. From 97 BP his basic power increased every few seconds.

97 BP (+3)

97 BP (+10)

97 BP (+15)

Dessa Chimes was unable to perceive the level of power Jodye was currently displaying, but she saw the increasing force momentum building within his golden atmosphere. The shockwaves intimidated her a lot, she felt like Mr. Jupiter was even more mighty than before. On the other hand, the treasure spirit of the Autumn Saver knew perfectly well how much strength Jodye was currently displaying. Its voice cried out in shock within Dessa’s mind, leaving her dumbstruck, “97 BP! He’s only in the sophomore rank, how… monstrous.”

“Is 97 BP very impressive for a Sophmore rank Sage?” Dessa Chimes grew up in captivity and didn’t really know a lot about the Sage path in depth.

“Very. Perfected Sophmore rank sages are known to possess around 21 BP. I believe that when Autumn Rose was at the Perfected Sophmore rank, she only maintained 30 BP.” Autumn Saver was puzzled, “Even with her force concept, she just had 60 BP max. However, this kid is already manifesting powers that exceed this, and he isn’t even at the Perfected Sophmore rank. This Joseph Goldwolf is only at the Advanced Sophmore rank, and as regular as can be with only 16 BP as his base strength. So how… he isn’t even using a weapon right now.”

Before Autumn Saver’s treasure spirit could finish its thoughts, Jodye moved again. He used two fingers to draw a 3-foot line of electricity vertically in the air.

Thunderbolt Purgatory!

1!

2!

3!

4!

Four 3-foot wide, 2-meter long silvery blue thunderbolts burst out from the line of electricity in light speed succession. Thunder boomed into a force shockwave after each strike landed on one of the two beasts. The shock waves spread out for a radius of 10 meters with Jodye as the center. Four explosions made the ground tremor fiercely. Dessa watched in shock and trepidation as Jodye landed out of sight within the dust cloud.

After the dust settled, Jodye Trill could be seen still wearing an elegant blue raiment and standing with his hands behind his back as he stood gazing emotionlessly at two heavily brutalized and bloody beast corpses. Electricity was still present, arcing on their bodies. Inwardly, Jodye was astounded entirely. What power? What strength? This was even more powerful than the eighth level of the Titanic Rage Law’s Wimpy Man realm! If he weren’t already at the ninth level, his strength simply wouldn’t compare! Let alone regular Wimpy Man realm warriors who could not surpass the seventh level.

Not to mention that this was the case after not cultivating his origin for a year to due to the coma. This attack had also taught him many things about himself!

First was that the application of dragon force was vastly different compared to the way his other Qi forces were used. Unleashing it felt like igniting a fire inside his body, and honestly, it hurt like hell! It felt like every cell in his body turned twice as active, and aggressive as hell. However, the moment he used his dragon force the strength of his origin energy doubled! That was absolutely insane! Next, Jodye discovered that he could use his divine spark naturally, and it required no complex thinking. It was an innate spell, one that he needed only origin energy to complete. All he needed to do was perform the method of incantation.

This meant that even if he was using abilities related to his legacy soul’s divine spark, he could still use a concept unrelated to it as well. Very importantly, he also learned that one purgatory thunderbolt would automatically chain into 100 smaller lightning strikes, each strike delivering the full might of his force! Basically, he just sent out 400 lightning strikes worth 97 BP (+30)!

This was insane.

Even under siege, Jodye was simply undefeatable below the Great Scholar rank! That meant using origin energy he could easily defeat foes who were less than one realm above him in strength. Of course, if his opponent used a high-level concept or also possessed dragon force, Jodye would likely be in trouble. Dragon force was terrifying, and this was merely the nascent level. He knew that spells could also significantly increase one’s natural strength.

Unfortunately, Jodye only knew the two serenity spells created by his mother.

“I wonder if now that I’ve comprehended my divine sense, would I be able to use multiple forces at once with [Pharaoh’s Law] equipped?” Wondered Jodye Trill.

He had tried this once before as he was looking for prey. However, upon trying mentally, he discovered that he could still only sink his perception into one concept at a time. This was in spite of having evolved his spiritual sense into divine sense. However, [Pharaoh’s Law] pushed him a step further, granting the next level of the soul’s ability of understanding, awareness! Jodye’s divine awareness was indeed able to split, and then split once more! However, each line of awareness was brittle and easy to break in that state. Thus, this was only enough for Jodye to comprehend no more than two concepts at once. Still, this was amazing! Other geniuses could only wait until their realm advanced to do the same as him.

Jodye turned around and saw the terrified Shadowblitz kitten shivering and shaking with its paws covering its face. This creature was a mere level 1 vicious beast, and it wasn’t even an adult. Jodye’s divine awareness swept past the beast, informing Jodye that its strength should barely exceed 14 BP.

Such power was nothing to Jodye, no matter what. However, it was likely enough to permanently silence little Aiken, who had gone as quiet as a mouse and even used some technique to hide his own breath and aura.

“Truly impressive…” Thought Jodye Trill out loud, kicking the Shadowblitz kitten in the butt, making it tumble forward into a tree, falling backward unconscious.

‘Cosmo!’

The [Cosmos Revolving Grimoire] appeared in a flash of purple light, opening up directly to the second page. After another purple flash, Sylvester appeared from a magic circle in his infant form, landing on Jodye’s head.

“Sly, I want to give this kitty to my hand. Can you subjugate him?” asked Jodye Trill.

“What am I, your personal beast tamer? You know this no different from forced slavery to me,” complained Sylvester via telepathy. He was capable of speaking out loud, merely he never did so. In spite of his words, Jodye watched the sky wolf puppy defying gravity to walk over to the young Shadowblitz Lion and do what Jodye had asked him to do.

“This from the guy who wanted me to eradicate Eureka, refining her soul in the grimoire? Tch,” Jodye Trill sneered and turned his head to the rock ledge, “You want to hide in there all day, little guy? If so, I’ll be leaving.”

As Jodye turned to walk in the direction of Sylvester and Dessa’s new pet, he heard a series of clamoring sounds. He turned back to see a dirty white-haired boy in rags scrambling being him. The boy looked like he would be quite handsome if he didn’t look like a little beggar.

“Mister, please. My name…I am Aiken Moon, third son of Augustus Moon!” little Aiken was visibly afraid of Jodye, but became less so when he saw his young face. He recovered a bit of his bravery in the face of a peer, even one so mighty, “If you can feed me, I swear to be in your debt! And if you were to help me return to my noble family, we can reward you greatly! Please consider this carefully sir, I need your help!”
