Bk 2 Chapter 124 – Final Round

In the same manner that he defeated Domin, Fujo dominated the rest of his opponents, in the process going undefeated. His opponents were not weak, in fact they were the strongest anyone in the top ten had faced thus far yet he still proved that none of that mattered. Just like all the geniuses before him, he showed that common sense did not apply to him.

As a result the crowd fell in love with him however, this was not just because he was strong. No, the audience was sucked in more by Fujo’s ‘interesting’ personality than anything he was actually doing on the stage. Towards his opponents he would talk trash, insulting them as he proceeded to toy with them. No one could get close to him anyway so he freely used his mouth to infuriate and belittle them.

At other times though, he would completely ignore the opponent in front of him, winking and waving at the beautiful females he spotted within the crowd. For some reason this served to anger his opponents even more than his trash talk.

Watching all of Fujo’s antics, Zilan could not help but smile, ‘Looks like he’s having fun.’

‘His ability really is a pain in the neck though, [Suction and Repulsion]. Suction by itself is powerful enough but once it’s combined with Repulsion, the outcome in most cases will be his enemies’ destruction. ‘Untouchable and Invincible’ is what he said his aim is, or maybe it was ‘Invincible and Indestructible’? He talks too much so I tune him out sometimes.’

The scorpion fellow, the one eyed youth as well as the fast Beast all fought hard but unfortunately with the presence of both Fujo and Domin, they had two losses already guaranteed before they even went up to fight. Add on the losses that they would suffer whilst competing against each other and all hope of them advancing to the Finals was lost in the eyes of the spectators.

When it came time for Domin to fight his nine matches he battled everybody except for Fujo.

“This is not the stage for us to go all out. I’m looking forward to seeing you and that Yasen in the finals.” He said.

Fujo smiled in his mind thinking, ‘There’s someone else you should pay attention to otherwise you won’t even know how you were beaten until it actually happens.’

He did not voice his thoughts as he wished to see someone else go through what he and Kifo went through that day when training with Zilan. If it was just about sheer power then maybe they could contend with their good bro however, when you add on that despicable brain of his that seemingly holds the key to every question on this bloody earth, fighting Zilan is almost like a battle against yourself. Someone who knows all the weaknesses of your techniques after just a single look, he analyses them and attacks them. Unless you’re prepared for it, just the shock of being countered again and again is enough to consume you.

Since that day, both Kifo and Fujo had opted not to train with Zilan again. This was especially so for Fujo who didn’t even like training in front of him. Of course, looking at it from Fujo’s perspective, he was supposed to be the older brother therefore once he had gone through the ‘Zilan experience’, his seriousness towards training reached an all-time high. From playing around with girls seven days a week, he went all the way down to five days a week, a sacrifice that almost made him cry the day he committed to it. However, his training had yielded results and if they were to battle in the Finals, Fujo had more than one new surprise waiting for him.

…………..

Judge appeared in the middle of the stage and immediately announced the names of those who would be heading to the finals.

“Currently Ranked First: Zilan Malaika – 18 points.

Second: Yasen Andriani – 18 points.

Third: Mawe – 18 points.

Fourth: Juen Onin – 18 points.

Fifth: Fujo PurpleSun – 18 points.

Sixth: Domin Erten – 16 points.

Seventh: Reile Leron – 16 points.

Eighth: Coul Reless – 16 points.

Ninth: Gril Mios – 16 points.

Tenth: Nyoka – 16 points.”

The point allocation was actually fairly simple to understand.

There were five groups consisting of ten Beasts each in this tournament and in each group, every member would have to fight nine battles whilst also being called up to fight others nine times. An example of this could be seen in the final, fifth group, of Fujo and Domin.

When it came Fujo’s turn he fought each person once including Domin and in the same way when it came Domin’s turn he fought each person once. Therefore, he met Fujo for battle twice although, the second time he forfeited. It went without saying that the deceased Stima as well as the other two were counted as automatic wins.

The same went for Zilan, just like how he fought everyone nine times, the other nine people in his group would also get one chance to fight against him when their turn came, thus bringing the total amount of times each person fought to eighteen.

Of the top ten only the first five went undefeated. However, aside from Fujo who earned his title, the others could be said to have been gifted their rank simply because of their excellent performances during the entrance examinations. Needless to say, people like Zilan, Yasen and Mawe were different since no matter which rank they started with, the result would have still been the same with them remaining undefeated throughout.

“All of you have advanced to the final which will be taking place tomorrow. Congratulations on this accomplishment.” Judge shot the group a smile as he openly appraised all of them.

Cheers and thunderous clapping rained down from the crowd as they too appreciated this year’s top ten. The reason for this? Regardless of what takes place in the finals tomorrow, these ten youths would still receive treatment and nurturing unlike any of the other rookie Fire Guardians that came in this time. It wouldn’t be a misstatement if one even went as far as to say that this was the new batch of core students that the Fire Guardians would prioritise. Not to mention, that just being in the top ten was already a great enough of an accomplishment to warrant a reward. Nothing crazy of course, but still, it was something.

“The setup of tomorrow’s finals will see a change from last year.” Stated Judge.

“Eh? A change? Hasn’t the finals always followed the same tradition? Why is it changing this year?” questioned one of the spectators.

“Idiot, can’t you use that brain of yours to think a little? It’s obvious they’re trying to make the competition more fare.” Replied a rather knowledgeable Beast.

“What do you mean by more fare?”

“In the past when a soul-compression stage Beast appeared in the traditional Battle Royale setting weren’t all the other rookies easily destroyed? It’s obvious the upper brass has decided to make it so that the rankings can be decided in a manner that is more efficient as well as less damaging to the other Rookies confidence. After all, with everyone being so easily destroyed it becomes hard to differentiate who’s actually better than whom. Not to mention what that experience does to the Rookies psyche after the tournament.” Explained that knowledgeable Beast.

“Oh, so it’s like that! Too bad, I wouldn’t mind watching that Yasen beat down these others geniuses. It isn’t every day you get to see the blessed ones have their pride trampled on.” He laughed.

“The question is, what is the new setup like then?”
