Zilan’s movements got faster and faster before eventually all that could be seen in the room was a blurry figure speedily flashing about the room.
The Ancient aura was growing stronger and as a result his body was quickly deforming. For a moment Zilan’s body would turn illusionary, the next moment his body would disappear altogether and the next instant sections of his body were directly separated appearing in different corners of the room.
It was a bizarre scene to behold but at the same time it was one that was beyond fascinating.
Feeling that he was almost there, Zilan accelerated his movements following a particular rhythm that would allow him to resonate with the Universe.
Almost immediately, a much larger string of energy invaded his body before everything died down. Zilan collapsed to the ground, sweating profusely. His heart was pounding and his limbs were trembling however, beneath all that was a person who could not be happier.
“Ha..hahaha…”
“I succeeded.”
Looking at his body that was now steaming hot, Zilan wryly smiled. Despite his innate endurance, too much contact with the Universe will eventually lead to him being swallowed by it.
But all that didn’t matter, at least for the moment. As right now, he was basking in a sense of accomplishment that came from achieving something that maybe no one had ever done before.
He had partially succeeded in fusing two concepts of the Universe, [Softness] and [Heavy as if Light]. Why only partially? Well to fuse those two concepts completely requires energy that Zilan currently could not provide. That being said, he had successfully fused the essence of the two concepts, the remaining portion was all about fusing this new essence with his soul, body and mind.
Unfortunately, this would have to wait until he reached a stage where he could generate enough energy to carry it out.
“Let’s go see what those guys are doing.”
Zilan thus washed himself off, dressed up and left his chambers.
“Kifo…” He called out.
No response came but Zilan was certain he could hear his voice downstairs. As he got closer, he was also able to hear a certain familiar voice of someone he really didn’t wish to see.
“Why is she here?”
He immediately picked up the pace and as expected, sited in the living area of the house was none other than Tausi and Kifo chatting, with Fujo silently observing. His eyes were glued to her.
Zilan’s feet stopped right before entering the living area. He emotionlessly gazed at Tausi who immediately noticed him.
“Big brother, I’ve come to see you.”
The light in Fujo’s eyes slightly dimmed upon hearing this and Kifo simply paid it no mind. Now that the desired party had arrived he could now take his leave. Fujo hesitated but ultimately left as well.
Zilan did not immediately take a seat. No, he first took a long look at her before softly sighing.
Despite its low volume, Tausi was still able to pick up on it causing her expression to stiffen somewhat.
“Is something wrong?” she asked.
Zilan shook his head before taking a seat opposite her.
“Why have you come here?”
Tausi smiled in response to his question.
“Can I not visit you just for the sake of visiting you?”
A cold light flashed in Zilan’s eyes but it disappeared almost as quickly as it surfaced.
“I see. Well, if you have nothing to say then please leave.”
“Have I done something wrong?” Zilan’s tone was emotionless and his behaviour confused Tausi. She did not think for one moment that he had pieced together her scheme.
“Have you done something wrong?” He repeated the question.
“I don’t understand.”
“You’re asking me if you’ve done something wrong. What makes you feel that way?” His voice lacked emotion however, his piercing eyes were beginning to put Tausi on edge.
“Do you…” She was about to ask him a question but didn’t get the chance to as Zilan raised his hand to stop her.
“Why?” was all he asked. A usually simple question but one that had a myriad of interpretations and meanings. Nevertheless, he was confident that she understood what he’d asked and the answer he wished to hear.
Tausi was flustered, a very natural reaction upon being caught off guard. She had come here with the intention of getting closer to Zilan and hopefully sow discord between him and Kring. Now though, it appeared like things would not go as she envisioned.
“What do you mean?” She asked, attempting to play dumb.
“Why me?” This time Zilan did not mask the anger in his voice.
Tausi paused for a moment. She then took a deep breath before shooting Zilan a complex look. Within it, one could see that she was shocked, fearful and curious as to how he had found out.
“Who told…”
“Answer my question first!” Interrupted Zilan. “Why me?”
“Of all the people you could have chosen, why is that I, someone completely unrelated to you, was the one you decided to manipulate?”
Tausi was speechless. Answering that question proved to be difficult.
“I had a feeling that you were different.”
“Hahahahaha……Is that it!?” Zilan raised his voice, evidently enraged by Tausi’s nonsense.
“You know, there are few things I hate in this world more than being played for a fool so allow me to ask you for the final time, why me?”
Looking into his eyes, she was smart enough to understand that he was about to snap and after seeing how he dealt with his enemies on the challenge platform, Tausi intelligently decided to come clean.
“The charm, my charm, you said it doesn’t work on you.”
“It doesn’t.” confirmed Zilan.
“That’s not normal. In fact, I can confidently say that until I met you, I thought my charm worked on everyone. For you to be able to resist its effects is one thing but to completely cancel it out, that is one thing that had never happened before.”
Zilan was slightly confused but he did not interrupt her.
“Kring does not want me to be his bride. What he really desires is the item that resides within me, a product of a supposedly ‘unique’ body constitution. One of the side effects of coming close to this item is that one would be at the mercy of a powerful charm. A charm that until recently was assumed to be always reliable and always effective.”
“What is the item called?” He inquired.
“My late mother called it a blessing but the Elders refer to it as the [Skylock Seed].”
