Bk 2 Chapter 156 – Closed Door

Looking at Zilan, Tausi could not help but think that he was even more mysterious than she initially thought. Despite this being the case, she still intended to warn him so that he would know what he was getting himself into.

“Kring is dangerous. Even if you’re currently in the Black Core stage, he has a lot of resources at his disposal not to mention his own personal strength which is at the Peak of the Black Core stage.”

A small smile appeared on Zilan’s face as soon as these words were spoken,

‘Now is when she’s concerned about my safety?’

A woman’s mind is truly difficult to understand.

Tausi naturally noticed his smile and thought that he was not taking her words seriously. She frowned and was just about to reinforce her message when Zilan stopped her.

“My mind is clear, be assured that I understand the threat. I will deal with it in my own way.”

Tausi was stunned by his words but seeing the confidence he exuded, she did not continue.

“We’re done here. I trust you can see yourself out.”

He then stood up and left the room. A confused Tausi staring at his back as he walked away.

Zilan did not return to his chambers as one might assume. It had been a long time since he last conversed with Kifo thus he went to find him.

He knocked on the door to Kifo’s chambers before walking in.

“It’s been a while.”

Kifo’s chamber was smaller than Zilan’s but not by a lot. The room’s design though was completely different.

It was painted dark brown and had no windows. There was very little furniture with only a wardrobe and a bed, which was raised off the ground, in sight.

“It has.” Said Kifo as he jumped off his bed.

“How have you been?”

“Hahaha, same old, just dealing with the messes you cause.”

Zilan smiled as he took a seat on the floor.

“Three months….” He whispered.

Kifo nodded before laughing.

“You’ve changed.” Added Zilan.

“Is that not what you wanted?”

Zilan remained silent however, the more he looked at Kifo the more satisfied and proud he felt. With one look, he could confirm that Kifo had been non-stop training. His physique especially was superbly crafted.

“So, what have you gotten us into that has you so worried?” Others may not be able to see it but he was one of the few who could see through Zilan’s mask.

“I don’t know.” Replied Zilan. “I’m not really worried, if I was to describe it I’d say I’m excited. More excited than I’ve ever been in my entire life.”

Kifo smiled, “Is it your ‘plan’?”

Zilan looked at him before nodding. “Yes! Someone recently told me that I don’t understand how fate works. That is in a sense true as is the case for most individuals however, since then I’ve began analysing life and the ways in which I think Fate and only Fate could have influenced that life.”

“What did you find?”

“Something very simple but also very profound.” His eyes brightened as he spoke. “When great obstacles appear before you in unexplainable ways, Fate is in play. When individuals who should not be aware of your existence are by ‘coincidence’ or for some unlikely reason drawn to your Path, Fate is in play. And depending on your willpower and perseverance, you will either be thankful of your Fate or you will resent it. I however, do not care, for my Path involves the toppling of the Heavens themselves. A few more obstacles along the way is nothing in comparison.”

Kifo listened carefully, contemplating all the while.

“So why analyse Fate in the first place?”

Zilan looked at the ceiling as he spoke.

“My enemy is the Heavens. It is a great enemy but I am currently not worthy enough to be considered their enemy. Having such a great enemy means that every other foe I encounter along the way will be miniscule in comparison but despite their inferiority to the Heavens, I must carefully analyse them, get to know them, before eventually making my move.”

“And who is your current foe?”

“As a whole, this world must be changed and soon we will change it, but for now we have a fellow named Kring to deal with. Behind him is the Warlord Faction, a power you would know more of than I.”

Kifo was taken aback. “You really know how to make enemies.” He said, bitterly smiling.

“Stepping stones.” Corrected Zilan.

Kifo rolled his eyes. “What do you want me to do?”

“Nothing except to cultivate diligently. Time is on our side for now, Kring will not make a move.”

“How can you be so sure?”

“Don’t worry about that. As long as Tausi doesn’t give him a chance he will not move.”

Zilan then narrated the whole story to Kifo. Needless to say, he excluded the part about the Phoenix. Instead, he told him about the Skylock seed and emphasized that Kring could not get his hands on it.

“That’s still not something to rely on.” Said Kifo. “He could act suddenly.”

“Even if that is the case, he will at least wait until the Winter Concealed Scripture event is over before he appears before us. And that is barely enough time for me to get my strength to a level where I can contend with him. As for you, I’ll have something ready for you at that time.”

Kifo solemnly nodded through the first part but when he heard Zilan’s final statement. His ears instantly stood on alert.

“What will you be getting me?”

Zilan smilingly shook his head.

“Not getting, making.”

Hearing this Kifo was even more shocked. As far as he knew, Zilan’s skill in formations, Alchemy, Inscriptions etc were beyond anything he could imagine thus knowing that this person was going to make something for him made him over the moon with joy.

“What will you be making?”

“Hmm, you’re best suited to the blade so a blade is what I’ll make.”

“Hahahahaha…..” Kifo laughed out loud.

“What’s so funny? Let me listen too….” Fujo’s curious shout suddenly came from outside the chamber.

Zilan shook his head hearing this, “Tell him about the conflict but not in detail and don’t mention anything about the plan to him.”

“Naturally.” Responded Kifo. “But I can tell him about the blade?”

“Sure.”

“Hahahaha…let me see how he will die with jealousy.”

“It’s going to take a long time to make the blade so during this period before Winter, I’m going into closed-door cultivation.”

Kifo furrowed his brows but nodded in the end.

“Don’t worry, should anything like this time’s incident happen again, feel free to contact me. I’ll be in the training chamber.”

“Understood.”

“Oh, and keep an eye on that Zest. Should he make anymore foolish moves, kill him.”

Zilan uttered that sentence as casually as possible. He then stood up and departed from Kifo’s chamber.
