Looking at Meng Wen, who carried heavy guilt in her eyes, Ye Jian couldn’t hold her chuckle in: “Why are you crying so suddenly? I’ve never promised you anything; I only told you I really didn’t intend to accept the direct admission spot from either school. I didn’t want it then, and of course, I wouldn’t want it now.”
After she was done, she sighed regrettably, “Sigh, and I thought after I gave up, the direct admission slot would be passed onto someone else, who would’ve expected them to churn it away.”
“You really didn’t do it because of me?” Meng Wen hastily rubbed her eyes with her fingers. She said through pursed lips: “If you didn’t do it because of me, then I won’t apologize to you!”
Ye Jian shook her head, “It’s really not because of you. Besides, I think you should also know this; you don’t hold enough weight in my heart for me to give up on it because of you, right?” With that said, even Ye Jian herself started laughing while Meng Wen’s face flashed red. She glared at Ye Jian with an embarrassed and frustrated expression. With a flip of her ponytail, she left arrogantly.
After taking a couple of steps, she returned once more. She forced her voice through an awkward tone: “If you gave up, then you gave up, with your results, any school in the whole nation is yours to pick! Also, don’t you tell other students, saying the stuff that I told you last year!”
This was Meng Wen, who was awkward and petty but didn’t harbor any ill intentions. There’s her, there’s him, and there are the others who have made her high school life rich and colorful. Even after she graduates, she’ll still constantly think about them, missing the laughter and chatter they brought to her that she didn’t have the chance to taste later.
With their existence, she was left with one less regret in her current life.
Ye Jian had only told An Jiaxin her aspiration of applying to the National University of Defense Technology and informed her that her decision had been made since Grade 8. That matter had shocked An Jiaxin so much that her eyes widened to at least twice the size!
What the heck! And here she thought if she could get into the same university as Ye Jian. She looked at her results and was still confident that her plan would work, but the result…, like a bolt out of the blue! Military school…, isn’t it too late if she started working harder now?
An Jiaxin, who was overly ‘stimulated,’ started pouring more effort into studying, affecting her whole dorm room to start going crazy as she did. By the time the results of their Grade 12 first semester’s finals came out, all of the five girls had climbed into the top 10 of their year! Thankfully the five of them weren’t placed in the same exam room; otherwise, with the weird decrease in marks that were five points lower than the previous one, the whole school would’ve been suspicious whether or not cheating was involved!
The excellent grades of Grade 12 Class One blazed, who knows how many marks ahead of Grade 12 Class Two and Class Three. Amongst the Grade 12’s top 50, Class One claimed half the spots, while the rest of them… claimed the spots in the top 100!
This batch of Grade 12 graduates-to-be gave Principal Cao a subtle feeling that they would become the breakthrough that First Provincial High had never experienced. Maybe they would become the ever undefeatable, the strongest Grade 12 Class One!
At this moment, Ye Jian had already entered the rainforest at the nation’s border.
The rain started falling three days ago, and it had never stopped even until now. Ye Jian, who walked alone in the rainforest for three days in her rainforest camo, tore a small haven under the shrubbery where she was spared from the rain and would also hide her. Her eyes stared at her surroundings like torchlights as she silently waited for this rain to pass by.
The rain was too heavy, to the point of posing a problem of walking. To avoid mudslides, she had chosen to make camp at a higher elevation and waited to continue her march towards the mountain range after the rain had died down.
It has been five days since her solo rainforest survival had started. To go from the North to the South, the whole distance was around 500 kilometers! That’s right, 500 kilometers! And she needed to complete that in fifteen days and arrive at the place Principal Chen had designated.
