Glittering Mess 3

Without proper road in the forest, their jeep had to roll over rocks, thorns and rivulets. They were driving in muddy surface when their axle broke. Waylon and Roderick came down off the rocking jeep. Waylon searched for a wrench in the toolbox but couldn’t find it. Roderick was not sure if a wrench was enough to fix axle. He would not have even thought of doing so if he was in the world where he belonged.
“Roderick, watch the jeep till I bring repairing tools from Gretta.” Waylon said.
Roderick did not have any other idea, so he accepted what Waylon was up to. Waylon gave him the key and ran into the forest.
Dogs can’t smell people after crossing the river. Maybe. Roderick spun key on his finger. He had a key to entertain himself. In fact, he had got no time to relax ever since he had been cursed. He thought about what Spencer could have been doing. Was he alive, or he also was in another dimension?
The key slipped from his fingers and fell on the bush. Roderick went to pick the key.
A monkey jumped on the bush out of the blue and picked the key. Roderick leaped for the monkey. He was confident he could grab its tail before it could jump on trees. But the monkey was quick. It hopped on a tree and disappeared between branches.
Half an hour later Waylon came there with some tools. He slid under the jeep and started repairing.
“Don’t worry about axle.” Roderick said.
“Why?” Waylon crawled out.
“I lost the keys.”
Waylon lost his mind in anger. He said nothing. Nor Roderick dared to explain who had taken the key. Waylon threw a duffle bag on ground, unzipped it and took rifles out of there. He tossed one at Roderick too.
“Walk with me.” Waylon said.
Roderick followed him.
