The Staff Sergeant driving had fifteen years of driving experience, which was enough to reassure people.
Not only was the Xinjiang-Tibet Highway (G219) bumpy, there were countless tight bends, sharp bends, 360 pin-bends that could be seen every so often, even the Staff Sergeant with fifteen years of driving through the Xinjiang-Tibet Highway was driving extremely slowly.
Inside the car, the supply station Squad Leader spread out his map and pointed at the most dangerous place headed towards Mazar Pass, because he was worried, his voice was a little tense: “This place is a natural barrier, and is also the length of road that was longest, most dangerous and where avalanches occur extremely easily towards Mazar Pass, we had previously advised the Leadership of the team to abandon his decision of heading towards the Outpost.”
Unfortunately, they weren’t successful; however, after knowing that this place was extremely dangerous, the Leadership, who had previously planned to leave after resting for two more nights, noticed that the weather was clear and sunny and instead decided to depart early the next morning.
From the looks of it, it seemed like they had some urgent matter to handle, and not a minute should be delayed.
Since the Leaderships of the Aid Command Center had made their decision, as soldiers, they couldn’t forcefully stop them, so they could only send out one of their old veterans along with them to take care of them along the way.
Who would’ve thought, with such good weather, they didn’t manage to make it on time, and now with the snowstorm about, anybody with even a little experience would know this was a big deal after pondering about it a little.
J5’s facial features contorted after hearing about it; he couldn’t at all understand why they would pick a time like this to visit the soldiers in the Outpost! How is this visiting them? They were clearly stirring up trouble!
Obviously, the supply station’s Squad Leader was thinking the same thing, noticing the change of expression on the Ground Forces’ Major’s face who had been amicable with him, after sympathizing with him, he couldn’t help but exclaim: “Maybe they had something urgent to do, that’s why they had no other choice than to go forward.”
Even if they had something urgent to do, it was also unlikely for them… to bring along a group of cute and dainty Art Soldiers, right!
The supply station’s Squad Leader understood that his words didn’t have any effect, but he still needed to speak some polite words.
J5 really gave him face and echoed, “Possibly they did have something urgent,” after meeting eyes with the supply station’s Squad Leader, they quietly averted their eyes,… everyone had the same thought in their hearts, then there’s no need to talk about it too much.
With snow sealing the mountains of Xinjiang-Tibet Highway, after reaching the end of November, the border wouldn’t have let any vehicle in, that was why, along the white Xinjiang-Tibet Highway, there was only the military truck with Ye Jian and co’s party of eight on it, as it slowly drove up along the snaking road.
After basking under UV rays year-round, the Squad Leader was the same as all the soldiers who were stationed in Xinjiang lands; his arms and face had already turned dark. Because of year-round hypoxia, his previously plump fingernails had cracks in them; even his thumbs’ fingernails had depressions in them. His joints were all swollen; the Squad Leader, who was just twenty-seven years old, seemed to be a dozen years older than his actual age.
After he had finished his discussion with J5, he only had a little bit of time to measure up the Ground Forces’ soldiers who were on board the same vehicle; he sat in the innermost section on the truck and needed to bend forwards a little to see Ye Jian who was seated in the middle, looking at the sole female soldier in the party, he couldn’t help but to keep wondering.
There had been quite a few female soldiers in the missing Art Troupe, this brave female soldier… wouldn’t need to be taken care of when the time comes, right?
Female soldiers, for the male soldiers at supply stations and outposts, they were considered rare beings; aside from Sanshili Barracks having female soldiers, even their medic stationed here was a male medic, usually, if the medic was too busy with the IV drips, it was their comrades who helped them with needle removal and medicine exchange, there weren’t nurses to help them.
His measuring gaze lingered for too long, Ye Jian, who was sorting the medical supplies the supply station had prepared, had noticed it, the moment she lifted her head, what she saw was a deeply-tanned face with cracked lips.
