Prologue I

“Summer has arrived, huh.”

I muttered under my breath while gazing at the falling leaves outside the window of my room.

Ever since I had become a full-time salaryman, there wasn’t any time for me to have fun other than work after work. Though it wasn’t as bad as those black company out there, or at least that’s what I believe, I also want some free time for myself!

I thought college was the last that I suffered, but I guess I underestimated society.

With a sigh, I tightly closed the window before heading downstairs to grab the bread I bought yesterday on the table. Because I’m the type that always ended up waking up late for some reason or another, I was prepared for such occasions after taking a few scoldings from my beautiful boss.

But today, for some strange reason, I awoke before the alarm ring it’s first tone.

Yea, though it sounds unbelievable, it’s true. Is this a sign? Am I going to score a jackpot if I buy a lottery today? With that useless thought in mind, I drove my car away from my apartment complex.

“No traffic’s jam today either? What is going on here? Is it the end of the world?”

Since I’m in a good mood, I couldn’t help but joke around a little. Come on, give me a break. The joke about apocalypse has been hot these past few weeks. Even the media couldn’t stop themselves from inserting a few rubbish articles.

Looking at the high schoolers walking at the side of the road, I started to miss my little sister. It has been a few months since she became a high schooler. And during that time, I could only visit her once on her first day at school. Even that day, I couldn’t stay longer since I’ve been busy. But no matter what, I don’t care if I get scolded by my boss after the fact, my little sister will always be my first priority.

Speaking of her, it seems that I still have time before my shift. It should be fine if I visit her, right? My boss is an understanding type of person, after all. She won’t fire me if I were to be late again, right? Among my coworkers, I’m the most hardworking of all. Let’s hope she let it slide with that in mind.

With a smile on my face, I change the initial path by driving toward the east. I wonder if I should stop somewhere to get something for her. It’s been a while since we last met after all.

***

Public Highschool, Class A-1.

*Ring Ring Ring!*

“Alright, time’s up. You can lea—you over there, don’t run! The food is going nowhere.”

The teacher warns her students immediately the moment she noticed most of them were getting ready to bolt out of the classroom before she could finish her words. Though they appears to be relaxing their shoulders upon hearing her warning, the next moment however, they quickly dash out of the classroom when they saw the students from the other classes running in the hallways.

The teacher sigh helplessly at her students as she shakes her head before focusing her gaze onto the paperwork on her desk. These were none other than the homeworks she had given to her students yesterday.

While the teacher is keeping herself occupied with their homeworks, most of the students in the class had already left toward the cafeteria. Those that remained are only a few and Ayumi were one of them that decided to stay behind with her friends.

“Hey, didn’t you said something about your brother having an outstanding appearance?”

“Eh, is that true, Ayumi?”

“No way! You have a brother?”

The girl with a silky black hair smiles in response, which caused a cute dimples to appears on both side of her cheeks that makes her appearance seems rather youthful in comparison to the girls around her. Though that doesn’t mean they are naturally ugly, they are still rather plain in look department when standing next to her.

“Umm, yes.”

As expected of a teenage girls, their screams were undoubtedly loud. Fortunately for them, the teacher was too focused on her work to care about the interference from the outside world. The boys that stayed behind flinched in response to their out of nowhere excited banshee-like screams. Some began to consider whether it is a wise choice to continue staying in the classroom along with a group of excited girls lest they want to became deaf at young age.

“Hey, girls. Do you mind me intruding into your fun?”

But among a few boys, there stood a charming looking young boy with a smile that caused the girls to blush furiously upon accidentally meeting his alluring golden eyes.

Nakamura Isamu.

He is simply not just good looking, but also pretty good in athletic activities. With his outstanding look and talent, it is given that young teenage girls would have a crush on him. A certain four eyes even managed to get the information that this charming boy has reached double digits in receiving confession from girls after a week he entered high school! Basically, he is the mortal enemy to all solo players in high school! The absolute bastard!

Most, if not all, would likely agrees to his presence into their little group if given the chance. They are still young maiden that’s itching to fall in love, after all. Heck, there’s a rumour going around that his family’s capital is quite the bomb. If they could somehow march their way into his family, they would be in comfort for life. Unfortunately for the girls, Ayumi is not one of them.

“I’m sorry, but no. We were having ‘girls talk,’ it would be quite awkward if a boy like you intruded, you know?”

The smile on her face disappeared upon hearing his words, which were replaced to stoic. Because she didn’t bother hiding her displeasure at all, the girls flinched for a moment in surprise before nodding their head when Ayumi stare at them. As her friends, they knew that the rumors about Isamu confessing to Ayumi and got rejected outright is true.

For such a thing to happened, the news should have spread to the whole school and brought trouble to her, however, that didn’t occur at all since her friends is pretty tight lipped. If they were to spread it, it won’t just Ayumi that would get in trouble as, even if they denied that they were once her friends, a teenage girls burns in jealousy couldn’t careless about such a thing. Basically, they would get caught in it.

Most important of all, Isamu was pretty sly considering he found a spot where they were only two of them before his confession. He was prepared to get reject all along, most likely, he cares a lot about his reputation. If the news of him, an outstanding teenage boy was rejected by a girl ruthlessly, was known to the whole school, he might ended up becoming a joke of the year.

Once Ayumi found out about it, she was relieved that she rejected him. She still remembers the advice from her brother saying that such a person with that sort of personality is usually bad news.

Now back on topic, if the girls could sense her displeasure, obviously, Isamu could do the same. However, instead of being discourage, he put up a smile as if her words didn’t bother him at all. Just as he was about to speak his way out of it, he suddenly feels a sturdy hand gripping on his shoulders.

With a bit of annoyance appears on his otherwise calm expression, Isamu turned his head back wanting to give a piece of him toward the rude person who interfere on his conquest. But instead of doing that, he was surprised to find a good looking red-haired man staring coldly at him.

“Do you have any business with my little sister?”

“Ryu-nii!”

Of course it is none other than Ayumi’s older brother, Takahashi Enryu.
