Vol. 1: Chapter 31: A Small Change in His Heart

The lounge was engraved in silence. `Will she lash out on him now?`

Amelia grabbed Zachariel’s shirt. “You…”

`I want to curse at him! I want him to die!`

Her body trembled, gritting her teeth in anger.

`But I can’t!`

She rested her head into Zachariel’s chest, wetting it with the tears from her eyes.

“Brother Zachariel, I don’t know if you still remember me, or Hal, or everyone around you. But… can you promise one thing for me?”

“Yes… Amelia?” Zachariel took a while to reply.

Everyone was shocked. `He remembers her now? Did he just recovered his memories?`

Amelia was oblivious to Zachariel calling out her name.

“Avenge the death of my brother! Could you do that for me?!”

She couldn’t really put herself to blame Zachariel for the death of his brother. After all, during that time, Zachariel was still unattached to the world, and his unattachment was a result of a misunderstanding about Hal’s promise to her.

She also couldn’t avenge her brother herself because Prince Kane was something she couldn’t face alone.

“I know this is selfish of me, but you’re the only one whom I could trust and depend! I just want to see again that brother in the past, that Zachariel who would beat up the bullies in front of me and Hal! That Zachariel who would always smile even though he was beaten up!”

“That Zachariel…” Amelia hesitated.

`What’s she going to say now?` The rest waited with great expectations.

“That Zachariel, the man whom I love! Please, I beg of you!”

Everyone was left speechless. `How could you just confess to him out of nowhere!`

`Aren’t they cousins? Don’t tell me the Strom household is-?`

“I want you to-“ Amelia continued but stopped when Zachariel gently patted her head.

Amelia stopped crying and looked above her. Zachariel’s expression was still downcast, but the indifference in his eyes was no longer there.

Zachariel didn’t know what to say. `Should I say I will? What if she won’t believe?`

`Also, even though I have the strength to do it, I don’t think it will work anyway.`

He doubted himself. The guilt in his heart still put him in a difficult situation.

“I… I will do what I can, Amelia.”

Amelia blushed and instantly hid her face within Zachariel’s chest. `Wha-What am I blushing about?`

“My, my. What a beautiful yet ominous day it is today!” Amidst the commotion in the lounge area, a golden-haired young man stepped down the staircase and announced his entrance to the people below.

Everyone looked over. “Vittorio, what are you up to this time?” Edward warned him.

`This guy and that strong nose of him! F*ck it, what a blunder!`

Vittorio sniffed the air like a dog. “Oh, what a scent of pure love! A love that only stems from innocent people falling in love!”

He proudly shouted at the top of his lungs, as if he had founded the mystery of a long-unsolved problem.

“But something gloomy also looms in the air.” He sniffed again and widened his eyes in shock.

“The scent of jealousy!”

The senior Prospects were embarrassed. `Does he really have to make it so dramatic?`

`Even those who actors and actresses at the theatres couldn’t match up to this level of acting!`

“A preposterous display of love and affection will always put others on the feeling of resentment and loathing!”

“But all is not lost, for I, Vittorio Rizzolo, has created the perfect dessert for the broken-hearted ones! I present to you, Alleviare de Parfait! What do you say, beautiful ladies?”

He arrived in front of Sabrina and Victoria. He handed out two servings of a parfait that had an assortment of fruits and white cream. The top was heart-shaped, and one can smell the delicious aroma that the parfait exuded.

“Wha-What are you saying, senior Vittorio? Saying such nonsense all of a sudden?”

The two girls immediately retorted this senior of theirs. `How come this senior is this dangerous?`

If this senior spoke too much and Zachariel caught up with what was happening, they will surely die in shame and embarrassment.

“Oh, is that so?” Vittorio curiously looked at their expressions.

“Very well then, Amelia-“ He turned around and faced Amelia. He wanted to hand over the parfait to her and Zachariel, but the parfaits were no longer in his hands. Amelia was wondering what happened.

Looking back, the two girls were eating the parfait like they haven’t eaten for days. Vittorio smiled and let out a confident snort.

“Don’t try to hide your feelings, young ones. It’s bad for your health, you know?”

He looked at Rainald and winked at him. Rainald gritted his teeth in anger. `Is he also targeting me?` That damn Vittorio, what a detestable senior.

“Oh, my children are waiting for me upstairs. Got to go now, bye-bye!” Vittorio returned upstairs to continue his cooking.

Cody sighed. `Finally, it’s over, at least for now.`

Although Vittorio was a bit weird, he could be helpful in situations like these.

“Alright, settle down now everyone. Lunch will be ready soon. Let’s take a seat and rest up for a bit, okay?”

The rest nodded. Amelia clung to Zachariel, afraid that she might lose this Zachariel again. `I won’t let you go this time!`

Zachariel was still not feeling well. His head felt light and he wanted to pass out. His fragmented memories surged back at him again, holding his head as he closed his eyes, trying to resist the pain.

“Zachariel, are you okay?” Amelia wondered why Zachariel held his head just now.

“Uh, yeah,” Zachariel replied with a hint of hesitation.

`Damn it, when will this end?`

“Lunch is ready, let’s go now,” Cody announced and went upstairs along with everyone.

A few hours later. Class W1-A.

Zachariel entered the classroom with Sabrina. He looked around curiously. `So this is my classroom? There are no people here right now.`

`I guess they’re out having lunch or going around somewhere.`

Sabrina guided him to where he was seated. “Here’s your seat, Zachariel.”

He went to where Sabrina was. `How nostalgic. I feel like I haven’t been here for a long time.`

“Thank you…” He forgot who she was and scratched his head.

“Sabrina. It’s my name.” Sabrina felt annoyed and disappointed. `How come you only remember Amelia but not me?!`

“Thank you, Sabrina.” He bowed at her courteously. Sabrina blushed. “What are you doing? I don’t think I deserve this from just being a tour guide.”

She looked away.

“Is that so?” Zachariel was confused. Didn’t she help him? If he remembered correctly, one should thank the person who helped them regardless of the deed done by the helping party.

`Maybe girls are that easy to be embarrassed when talked to?`

He couldn’t remember that he had a close relationship with Sabrina.

Sabrina went back to her own seat and happily held her chin with both hands. She swung her feet and daydreamed. One could wonder what she was thinking about.

Seeing that Sabrina didn’t want to talk anymore, he went to the window and looked outside. The red light from Solus was comforting in his small red eyes. He opened the window and leaned over.

The wind made his short hair flutter. He had the disposition of a homesick person.

He looked down below. There were students walking around, chatting or laughing at times. Some would even shout at each other.

`What a lively scene.`

He was envious of them. He thought of Hal, whom he remembered was his brother and friend. `Hal, wherever you are now, I hope you’re in peace.`

Hal’s death was something he couldn’t forget for his life.

“Oh, Zachariel, you’re here?” Luiz and Luka entered the classroom. They were dumbfounded to see Zachariel back.

Zachariel looked over. `They are?` He couldn’t remember them.

Luiz and Luka approached Zachariel but somebody pushed them out of the way. “Zacharieeel!”

Lia excitedly ran over to him. She jumped and hugged him. She was like a cat owner who reunited with her cat whom she lost for a few days.

“Zachariel, I’ve missed you so much! Did you know, during the lockdown, you’re the only one I kept on thinking about!”

Luka and Luiz were speechless. `What is this girl talking about right now? She even confessed to him shamelessly!`

However, they felt a cold breeze on their right. `Hmm, what’s going on over the-?!`

A dark aura emanated from Sabrina’s body. “Luiz, let’s get out of here. It’s getting dangerous by the second.” Luka gossiped at Luiz.

“Luka, what are you talking about? I want to talk to Zachariel. I still want to invite him out in the training for tomorrow!”

Luiz could not bother about Lia and Sabrina. `I know that Zachariel will think of us first!`

“Uhm, who are you, again?”

Lia was dumbfounded. `Zachariel doesn’t remember me?`

Sabrina snapped out of her gloomy mood. `Oh no! I forgot that these people were close to Zachariel!`

“Zachariel, what are you talking about? Don’t you know Lia?” Luiz could not believe that Zachariel couldn’t remember who Lia was. `She’s sticking with you all day and you don’t know who she is?`

“Lia?” Zachariel looked at the girl hugging him. “I’m sorry, I really can’t remember.” He shook his head. Lia let go of Zachariel and had a downcast look.

“Luiz, something may have happened to him. Let’s play along for now.” Luka observed Zachariel’s action and tone.

`He doesn’t look like he’s lying. Something must have happened during the lockdown. Is it related to the incident in dormitory B a few days ago?`
