A blond woman, appearing to be about five foot ten, with a figure that complimented her actress-like face. She walked over to the group of gamers and stared at Kevin the whole time before stopping right next to him and giving him a kiss on the cheek.
This stunned everyone, including Astrid7Astridcharacter, who did not foresee that event.
“Still as shy as that day.” (Winter)
Astrid’s face immediately crumpled as she glared at her.
However, she was the one person that Astrid couldn’t refute for doing something to Kevin.
“Winter, we were discussing why we’re here. There is a seat next to Adams…” (Astrid)
As Astrid spoke, Winter sat right next to Kevin, making it six people on her side of the table, leaving Adams and Brian alone on the other side.
When Elsa noticed this, Jenny and her got up and sat on the other side.
“Whatever it is, I’m in! It’s been a while since I’ve been off work, so I’m going to enjoy it.” (Winter)
Astrid glanced at Kevin before addressing Winter, “There is a high chance you may be injured or even die.” (Astrid)
Winter smiled sweetly and said, “Kevin is a good man. I do not have many people like him in my life.” (Winter)
As soon as she finished speaking, they both turned their heads and locked eyes, imaginary sparks flying through the air.
“So, what does that make us then?” (Adams)
For the one person that couldn’t read the mood, everyone else sighed as Kevin and Winter continued to stare at each other.
…
“And so, that is pretty much the plan.” (Kevin)
Kevin said, as he lay naked in bed with Winter by his side.
She sighed for a brief moment before smiling happily as she stared at Kevin.
He hasn’t changed all that much in the years they’ve been apart.
She parted her hair with her hand, revealing her chest as she chuckled and said, “ You’re a good guy, Kevin. I can tell you do not have to do this, but you want to. By the way, you and Astrid aren’t concerned??” (Winter)
Kevin blinked with shock and tried to hide his emotions, but he clearly couldn’t.
“Yeah, it’s been better. Her compatibility research for me is closer than before. I guess if you follow medical technologies, you would see that there have been a few breakthroughs in artificial organs. Hearts, lungs, and…” (Kevin)
He then suddenly paused, too shy to continue.
Winter snickered at his expression, “I see… She is going to need a donor then, right? I’ll do it.” (Winter)
Kevin was confused for a moment before nodding. He was still naive in some ways.
A brief silence passed before Kevin hooked his legs over the side of the bed, getting ready to stand. However, Winter quickly hooked her arm around him to stop him in his tracks.
“You can stay here all night if you want.” (Winter)
Kevin gently grabbed her hand and said, “This will probably be the last time, Winter. I care for you, but I just don’t think it will work. If I met you before Astrid, I would still have faith in humanity and probably be a more normal person, but as I see things now…” (Kevin)
He slowly trailed off, in part due to how painful it was and because he wasn’t sure if anyone was spying on them.
“I do wish we got together before everything, but I don’t regret where I ended up. Thank you, Winter, for being my friend and something more.” (Kevin)
He then stood up and gathered his clothing before walking out the door.
Winter exhaled hard as her back hit the bed. She knew it was her fault. Kevin was one of those rare people that didn’t become sour to the world despite the hand he was dealt.
In fact, she knew he wanted to change the status quo in some way. She didn’t know how he was going to do that, but she knew that he won’t trust anybody until something changes.
“I also wish that you could be my husband Kevin, but until this world changes…” (Winter)
She then closed her eyes solemnly as she trailed off.
They will be leaving tomorrow to go to the staging area for the raid they are about to do.
