Yu Xiaolong awakened with confusion visible on his face.
He awakened underwater deep in the family lake, with his sleeping sister coiling around him.
He was sluggish and in pain, and what little movement he did feels like stepping on a pile of lego bricks. The last thing he remembered was an incoming tail right at his face and the immeasurable pain that followed.
Managing to clear his head a bit, Yu Xiaolong noticed something weird.
Even though he was currently being ‘ hugged ‘ by his sister, there was an absence of suffocation and despair, unlike the previous experience.
His scales that used to be so frail have now become as tough as steel. While his long cumbersome fins no longer restricted his movements. There was also something that was forcefully cramming information into his brain, causing him to have headaches. All sorts of know-hows came popping up one by one.
There is knowledge of ways to bend the winds and master the ability to float. There is also the knowledge of the many good things to eat that can be beneficial to his growth.
Soon enough, the outpour of information stopped, relieving Yu Xiaolong’s headache.
Seeing that the pain and confusion die down, Yu Xiaolong readied his stance. With a flick of his tail, Yu Xiaolong shot out of the lake.
He soared up high into the clouds, with speeds that produced a boom which caused a violent ripple that shook the nearby trees.
In the next thirty minutes. Yu Xiaolong spent time swimming in the clouds, vigorously zipping here and there.
His movements caught the attention of his parents, who leisurely floated to him.
They hid their presence in the clouds, wanting to observe their 5-year-old son.
This was the first time they saw him truly acting like a child of his age.
Yu Xiaolong was a kid that could be said to be independent and secretive. His mature disposition and strange mannerism had honestly baffled his parents. They have also checked whether another soul occupied their son’s body, but results show that his soul and body are perfectly compatible.
They wondered if their son’s unique disposition was acquired by imitating the behavior of his grandfather, the Yu Patriarch. But the sight of him cheerfully swimming among the clouds had set their hearts at ease.
Feeling a little playful, Yu Xiaolong’s father flickered, suddenly reappearing in front of his son. He let the huge fish crash into his chest, forcefully stopping Yu Xiaolong’s movements.
He then proceeded to hug and rub Yu Xiaolong’s fish head while saying. ” You look like you’re having fun! How about playing with your old man? “
Yu Xiaolong, who became dizzy from the impact, glanced at his father’s chest. His father didn’t even look phased at all, and one must know that he was moving at supersonic speed.
Yu Xiaolong carefully inspected his body, looking for any sign of physical injury. After making sure that there aren’t any problems, Yu Xiaolong threw an aggrieved look at his father. His gaze carried a heavy hint of blaming, as the question ‘ Why the hell is an old man like you getting in the way of a kid like me? ‘ was clearly written on Yu Xiaolong’s face.
With a sigh, Yu Xiaolong gave up staring and said ” Good morning dad. What happened last night? And what’s for breakfast? ” in a sullen tone.
His father flashed his signature goofy grin, he said ” Tututut! Before we continue talking about any of that, why don’t you transform back first? ” while patting and examining Yu Xiaolong’s scales.
Obeying his father, Yu Xiaolong transformed back to human form. He was going to ask his dad again but was interrupted by the pull of gravity. He started falling, he spread his limbs to slow down his speed. Once again, he started sighing to himself.
‘ I guess I can’t fly in human form, or at least not yet. ‘ he thought.
” Hey, son! How’s the first experience flying and falling for ya? ” his father’s voice cheery sounded beside his ear.
Yu Xiaolong turned his head to see his father. He was ‘ comfortably ‘ falling beside him, he seemed to be laying on his back with his arms across his chest.
Feeling a little disgruntled, Yu Xiaolong grabbed his father’s robe. He pulled himself closer and sat on his father’s chest. Yu Xiaolong then kept quiet and promptly ignored his dad.
The two rapidly approached the ground, with Yu Xiaolong not caring whether his father would fly up or not. Like a meteor crashing on earth, Yu Xiaolong found themselves in a large crater, surrounded by destroyed trees.
His father was still laying leisurely, totally unphased by the impact that caused such massive destruction. Yu Xiaolong hadn’t suffered any injuries either, his father neutralized the force that would otherwise tear him apart.
Speechless, Yu Xiaolong tried to get up from his father’s chest, only to be picked up by a familiar force.
By the time he noticed, his mother was already standing beside him and his father. She was once again glaring at his husband.
When she turned to Yu Xiaolong, her face was already full of smiles. She said ” How do you feel? Is there anything painful or numb? ” while twirling her fingers, making Yu Xiaolong spin.
” I’m good! Never felt better! Please stop Mom, I am really okay. ” Yu Xiaolong hurriedly said.
‘ Are you sure? That’s good. Honey, please fetch our daughter. These two would have a really big day today. ” She said, still worried about her son while commanding her husband with a threatening tone.
With that said, Yu Xiaolong’s father promptly vanished from where he laid. Confirming that he was indeed off to wake up their daughter, Yu Xiaolong’s mother had once again turned to him with a wide grin.
” Now that you’re father has gone to take care of your sister, mother will take you to the depository myself. ” she said proudly.
The two of them came to a heavily guarded building. It was right next to the guards’ barracks, and there were many Yu family guards in their beast forms battling in the large training field.
When Yu Xiaolong entered with his mother, he noticed that the building was largely empty. The was only a guarding elder and a deep pool filled with glowing blood.
Before he could ask anything, Yu Xiaolong heard his mother say
” Go on and soak your hands. Remember that you can only choose a drop of blood. “
