The other guard, Nalort, was left to guard the entrance to the cave while Dramix followed Gulliver further in. At the end of the tunnel, they saw what looked like a bar.
Peter then suddenly felt a shiver throughout his entire body as an endless amount of possibilities of what could happen flashed through his mind.
“Tell Gulliver to hang back here and let you check it out. I know you can easily take the ambush, but let Gulliver save you anyways.” (Peter’s Spirit Talking)
Dramix growled in annoyance after being ordered around, but he still did as he was told and requested Gulliver to hang back because it was way too quiet.
Once he left the tunnel, he was tackled from behind and a sharp pair of claws was pressed to the back of his neck.
“Naleeit, let him go!” (Gulliver)
A wad of spit landed next to Dramix’s head as the weight on his back was lifted.
He quickly rolled away from the spit to find another Drakan with her back to him.
“Gulliver, I heard you were dead! Now you’ve been captured and brought one of them here!?” (Naleeit)
Gulliver backed away from the angry Drakan as he said, “Now Naleeit, you know that I would never do anything to upset you.” (Gulliver)
The Drakan relaxed her stance as Dramix got back on his feet.
“For god’s sake, Dramix! Keep your mouth shut about her!” (Peter’s Spirit Talking)
Dramix paused to reconsider his comment before he spoke to Gulliver, “I’ll be at the bar if you need me.” (Dramix)
Dramix then turned around and started walking towards the bar when the other Drakan grabbed his shoulder.
“My apologies, but you obviously helped my brother out. For that, you have my thanks.” (Naleeit)
Dramix rolled his shoulder to release her grasp before sighing and saying, “My spirit told me that I could have taken you in your ambush. He also told me not to speak with you, despite my curiosity. It’s plain to see that you have a lot to talk about. Let me at least get a drink or two in me before I cause more trouble.” (Dramix)
The Drakan was taken aback as Gulliver stepped forward and said, “Are you, what your people call, a shaman?” (Gulliver)
Dramix plainly ignored the question as he arrived at the bar and grabbed the nearest bottle of alcohol. He then filled up a mug before taking a sip and saying, “Speak with each other before speaking to me. I need to think as much as you two need to catch up.” (Dramix)
Once Dramix was alone, he started talking with Peter, “Why did you let me look weak in front of that woman?” (Dramix’s Spirit Talking Talking)
“I… well…” (Peter’s Spirit Talking)
“Speak, d**n you.” (Dramix’s Spirit Talking)
Peter was instantly ticked off after he heard his words and angrily said, “Because Gulliver would have put a blade in your back if he thought that you were going to kill her!” (Peter’s Spirit Talking)
Dramix paused, knowing full well that if he didn’t listen to his spirit, he may have killed her for attacking him. Dramix then relaxed his shoulders as he questioned, “How did you know that she was there? You couldn’t have seen her. I barely knew she was there myself.” (Dramix’s Spirit Talking)
Peter laughed lightly.
“Probably because you knew that someone was there. I don’t know why, but I knew what would happen if you were put in those kinds of situations. I didn’t know how you would react to being attacked, but I knew you probably would have said something that would annoy her into attacking you. If you open your big mouth and talk about your homeland or your ancestors feeling shameful that you lost to her, I know how you would react after I stopped you. Either way, I think you did well. Since you’re listening in on them talking right now, I can hear their conversation as well.” (Peter’s Spirit Talking)
Dramix then poured himself another drink before filling up another one and sliding it over to Gulliver, who sat next to him.
“She’s mad.” (Gulliver)
Dramix was going to make a sly comment, but decided against it as he said, “So, what do you wish to discuss with me first?” (Dramix)
Gulliver nearly emptied his mug in one go before setting it back down.
“You never said you were a spirit weaver. Why mention it now?” (Gulliver)
Dramix drank a little before responding.
“You never asked, and I was frustrated about being told to lose.” (Dramix)
Dramix tightened the grip on his mug as he remembered.
“Every great legend has their low moments. It’s when they get back up that inspires us most.” (Dramix)
Peter was shocked that Dramix just quoted and paraphrased him.
Gulliver heartily laughed as he slapped Dramix’s shoulder.
“That’s true.” (Gulliver)
He then downed his drink before continuing, “Come on, I don’t want you to get drunk here. I’ll show you to the racks.” (Gulliver)
Dramix finished his own drink and reluctantly stood up before following him.
There was a walkway above the entrance to the cavern that led to a room with a bunch of racks and a pool of water washing through the cave. Gulliver stripped himself naked and went in to wash up, as Dramix picked a middle bunk and laid down with his back to the other.
He wasn’t sure how long it took him to doze off, but he slept deeply for the first time in weeks. Peter had long figured out that Dramix’s weariness didn’t affect him, but he couldn’t assume anything for sure.
After an hour of metaphorically twiddling his thumbs again in boredom, Peter noticed someone flip the eye of souls; the amulet that he was in. He saw that it was the other Drakan.
She was curiously looking at the small amulet that fit in the palm of her hand. Right now, it was only a single white gem in a crude gold casing in the shape of an eye.
She no longer had the bulky armor she had on before, and instead, she only wore a thin shirt and shorts. Peter could tell that Dramix was thinking about her as he slept, which she noticed as well.
“Horny men. They could never handle a real woman.” (Naleeit)
As Peter wished he could speak with her, he started to rise from Dramix’s side, taking her by surprise.
“Gods’ save me?!” (Naleeit)
Peter tried to raise his hand, but nothing happened.
He guessed he didn’t have extremities or even a real body.
“Don’t be afraid. I won’t harm you.” (Peter in physical form)
Naleeit paused for a moment before getting up from the bed and putting her hand through him.
“Are you his spirit?” (Naleeit)
Peter nodded before realizing what she actually meant.
“You can say that.” (Peter in physical form)
She then sat back on the bed in relief before saying, “Tell me why you chose to show yourself to me.” (Naleeit)
Peter chuckled in thought before responding.
“I don’t answer to you, but I will indulge you this time. This one and the other are bound in a fate that even I can’t see. You and the other are bound in a fate before this one. There are two paths in such a fate; either they conflict, or they merge.” (Peter in physical form)
Peter paused to let her think about what he just said.
“So, you’re saying….” (Naleeit)
Peter interrupted her sternly. “We each have our own choices, and they affect those around us. Accepting it is an option as well. I’m here to help you with this one. If he desires you, then I will help him. If he desires to have nothing to do with you, then I will help him with that too. It all depends on the choice he makes. I know he desires to live right now, so I told him to lose to you. That was the best chance he had to live. I told him not to speak badly about you because that will harm his fate, which absolutely must not happen. Possibility and probability are infinite, but they’re also limited.” (Peter in physical form)
Peter paused again as he watched her open her mouth to speak but not say anything.
She wasn’t sure whether she should speak up again and have him interrupt her.
He then sighed unnoticably as he continued, “I’m essentially saying that I have no influence over you or anybody else. It’s just him. I’m aiding him to his final fate. What that is though, I don’t know. I don’t even know when it will occur. I just see possibility and probability.” (Peter in physical form)
Peter was ready to return to the eye of souls, but she raised her hand and interrupted him, “Are you going to help him get my brother his kingdom back?” (Naleeit)
“I see many things, and I see him failing many times. I also see things that you both would resent. I see him and you making love and having children. I see you and him fighting to the death. I see the world at peace. I see the world burning. I see so many things futures that the present is rather lost to me. Soon, the present will pass and new possibilities and probabilities will fill the void. Now that I’ve indulged you, perhaps you could indulge me. Tell me why I should even care about your circumstances. Give me a reason to care about your fate tying in with his. Not just show it, but prove it and I will accept it and account for it. The other person is tied to his fate. I know this for a fact, and I can’t do anything to change it.” (Peter in physical form)
Peter started lowering himself back into the eye of souls before stopping and saying one last thing, “I don’t see us speaking again, but we will be aware of one another.” (Peter in physical form)
Peter’s whole world suddenly became the eye of souls again and he was feeling rather smug about the cryptic and full on lies he just told her. Honestly, he wanted to mess with her a little bit.
In truth though, he did want to make his presence known and for her to make a decision.
Since Peter didn’t have an actual body, he didn’t want to feel the same physical stress that Dramix was feeling towards her.
For the first time since arriving here, Peter noticed that he was tired instead of bored.
